Oaks on Collins is a good place to stay if you are on a relatively tight budget but don't want to miss the action in the CBD. This hotel is probably more ideal for business travellers than honeymooning couples though. I found the bathroom art deco bathroom fixtures rather annoying as it was hard to use the sink and shower without spalshing all over the place. I would rate this place average.

Good place for a short stay. The rooms are very small especially the bathroom which is basically a cupboard with a glass door but in general everything is clean and modern. I would have liked a washing machine and dryer in the room to wash clothes. Location in a good place - a bit further than extremely central. Service is OK as well - I asked for room service to clean room and they were up to the room quickly.

Overall this place is great if you want clean and relatively new/modern and are not overly picky. This is for those who don't mind a small place. If you are sharing I would recommend you are extremely well acquainted otherwise personal space might be an issue.

Oaks on Collins is a great hotel for business trips. I like their New York style studio. The cost is not really that expensive compare with many others, and most important of all, it's located in the centre of the CBD, only walking distance for businesses in the city. Their staffs are very friendly and helpful, room services in daily basis. Highly recommended for any short to medium business trips.

The Oaks on Collins is set a little further out from the action than I had expected, but a tram ride can easily make up for walking time. A lot of quick coffee shops make it very convenient to grab a latte and take it back to your room in the early hours of the morning.

I could, however, hear the airconditioning vents below which became mildly frustrating, but the cold weather meant we never had to open the windows or balcony door anyway. Room service took a little longer than I would have liked, and the tv was so low that I bumped my head on the corner of it because it sticks out of the wall. It took more than one trip to reception to get the non-closing bathroom door fixed, but I had a very enjoyable stay there. THe Oaks has modern furniture and I was grateful that I stayed in such a trendy hotel during my holiday.
