I loved staying at the parrotfish!! It has got the best location in all of Port Douglas, you are literally one street away from the main street and the beach is like a two minute walk away! I loved the fact that you get free breakfast and bike hire, and the meals and drinks in general were cheaper than anywhere else in town (meals for about six-seven dollars and ten dollar jugs!). Small things, like tea candles lit in the evenings, gave the place a nice atmosphere. It is a really great place to meet people! When I stayed there, a lot of the backpackers where staying for a while so I really got to know people quite well, I got tons of friends I'm going to meet up with in the future. Hot tip: guitar + bonfire one the beach. The staff were super friendly and really go the extra mile for you. I did my PADI with thes guys and it was BRILLIANT! My expectations weren't that high, bacause it was so much cheaper, but they went above and beyond! Highly skilled, super professional instructors and crew, we went out on Haba, a great boat who took us to fantastic spots. We saw turtles, reef sharks, nemo and all his friends +++ It was just great fun!! I will be more than happy to recommend this place to anyone!! (Only minus was the worn sofa in the common room, but it was supposed to be replaced soon after I left so that might have improved..) -

Great location right in town centre, and one thing we love when we drive around Oz is free secure parking. Just for that I would rate this hostel 5 stars but everything else was fantastic. Everywhere we travel we have to take all our gear with us into hostel for security reasons so you can imagine our surprise when we saw the car park.
Swimming pool was one of the best in any hostel we stayed, and clean.
Tip: move to a rooms with bathrooms, for only $2 extra it is well worth the cost.
Also check the Iron Bar in the town. Great photos....
