Pellegrini's Seafood Restaurant

Directions
On the waterfront in Balmain, Pellegrini’s Seafood Restaurant is in a prime location for an enjoyable dining experience. Part of the restaurant is still contained within the original 100 year old building which, combined with restaurant-wide water views, creates a visually pleasing and elegant setting. With outside and private dining areas and a dance floor, Pellegrini’s is child friendly and is also available for hosting functions. Open Wednesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for breakfast and lunch, main meals start at $15 and BYO is wine-only.

Party of 11 adults + 3 kids for a sunday lunch 50th birthday. Very average in service & overpriced for the quality & low quantity in food. I ordered the seafood platter for 2 and another couple also ordered it & we were beyond dissapointed. $90 a platter and it had NO lobster, NO balmain bugs, NO scampi,NO salmon. 2 pieces of deep fried crumbed fish, 1 deep fried crab (disgusting) 4 calamari rings again deep fried, 3 oysters, 7 prawns, 4 scallops, 6 bbq octopus.
For the entrees we ordered 2 main sizes of bbq octopus, 2 main size salt n pepper squids, 3 salads & breads to share. Again the entrees were about $22 a plate and about 4-5 pieces of octopus in each plate and about the same with the squid no joke it was like they didnt have enough food out the back.
Considering we only paid for the entrees, mains, soft drinks, cakeage & corkage as its a b.y.o restaurant the bill was $730 and no one was really satisfied with their meal. Obviously the other reviews are dated a few years ago and management might of changed but this was pathetic and I WILL NEVER RETURN NOR WOULD I RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. alot of restaurants are crap but for a seafood restaurant with an italian name in a great location we were utterly dissappointed. I hope someone sees this review before dining there.

I went to to Pellegrini's Seafood Restaurant for 1st time this week with a great deal of anticipation and was bitterly disappointed with the standard of service (nonchalent & smug), quality of the food (bland & overpriced), refusal to put jugs of tap water on the table (water to be bought only), no tea or coffee on offer after the meal and a total lack of atmosphere despite stunning water views and location. Our well behaved party of 45 was treated like a necessary annoyance, not as valued customers. The night finished with our tablecloths being removed as we sat there, 5 minutes after dessert was cleared. The waitress said sharply "I want to go home soon too, y'know" .

The only positive things I can say about the night is that the party of friends was terrific, our BYO wine was delicious and that the chef made a superb crumbed calamari.

Given that there was only 10 other patrons in the restaurant on a Saturday night, i think that Pellegrini's would do well to consider some of the negative reviews they have been receiving on this and other Restaurant Review sites as a wake up call to review their levels of food and service quality.

I will not be returning, as an individual or as part of a group to this restaurant in the near future. I prefer to feel welcome at a restaurant, eat good quality freshly prepared food and acknowledge good service from a service professional. Pellegrini's - Wake Up!

Simply sensational! That's the only way I can describe this hidden treasure. Nestled in probably one of the best locations in Sydney is this great little place. The food, very mouth watering. The staff is there to please any calibre of customer or the most discerning food critic. Honestly, I don't like telling to many people about this place as it will become too popular & then where would I go ! But seriously, this place is great.

I have been to Pellegrini's 3 times over the past couple of years. Each time the view is sensational. The tables right on the water are a top spot for a romantic dinner. We also had a friends 40th dinner there and the atmosphere was great. The food could have been a little better. A lot of it was fried but the view made up for it.
