Great value, tasty pies are available at this pit stop cafe on the Pacific Highway. Serving both savoury and sweet flavours, you can get everything from the traditional Steak & Kidney pie to delicious desserts like warm blueberry pie. There's also a selection of meals, sausage rolls and teas on offer.

Outdoor seating takes advantage of the picturesque views over the Hawkesbury River, so head there on a sunny day and enjoy the pleasant view and a hearty pastry.

This place has really gone downhill. Quality of the pies is variable. It's such a shame.

Waldo has gone back to Pie In The Sky for about the 100th time but alas I've got some sad news, great food and standards seem to have disappeared with a recent change of management. NOV 2011.

Arriving around noon it was noticeably quiet for a sunny warm Sunday.

Ordering was informed the wonderful Caesar Salad was no more, removed from the menu.NEW management and it was off the menu.

So ordered Mushroom, Chunky beef and Steak and Kidney pies, youngsters came with chips and gravy. Mr Healthy had to order a garden salad. Salad??? Some lettuce with about 4 pieces of tomato, some sliced onion and cucumber NO dressing and quite bland indeed, $7.00.

Into the warm pies and noticed that they seemed to lack gravy and were somewhat tasteless, compared to other occasions when they were steaming hot with loads of flavour...Very disappointing.

    Chips were OK...1 star.

    Coffee was great...1.5 stars.

    New management?????

I love this place - perfect for a weekend drive (which isn't far if you live on the upper North Shore or nearby). The beef burgandy pie is my favourite, but all the beef ones a pretty good as are the lamb. I'm personally not a fan of chicken pies, so I can't comment. A great range of pies available as well as other cafe food. And the fruit pies are great, especially the blueberry one!

Been lately? I'm just about to post another review and it's not going to be positive. Apparently management has changed, AGAIN!! A great eatery has disappeared...well some menu items and standards have.

Chunky Beef Pie was a wonder for a hungry and fussy 11year old girl who exclaimed, "I don't normally like the chunky meat but that was almost as good as the Iced Chocolate!"

Iced Chocolate, WOW!!! The missus and youngster decided on these and what a treat they were. Served in tall float glasses chilled, with plenty of chocolate, soft ice cream and cream toppping. Youngster said it was like going to heaven.

On a bit of a health kick at the moment so me and the missus shared a Ceasar Salad.
FRESH, FRESH is what i will say. Crisp cos lettuce, warm just cooked and drained bacon, off the block parmisan cheese ( seemed an expensive brand too) and a wonderfully subtle dresssing made this a delicious light lunch.

To top it off my large HOT mocha was just the grouse. A superb blend of choc and coffee and a great heart starter for a long countrry drive.

Actually the top off was the red Ferrari and the bikes which made for great conversation over what was a surpringly swift, light and enjoyable lunch.

I will say they were very busy, five minutes for the order, not in the pie warmer was great.

The boys do a great job and were pumping out the twenty or so different flavoured pies, which can be served with gravy, peas or mash...On a plate or just in a bag with sauce of your choice. Sausage rols are available too. Family pies looked a bargain. Oh yeah, i did see some scones with jam and cream as well as small fruit pies. Yeah my health kick was challenged.

If a pie is not for you they have burgers, salads, fries and wedges too. The view is great ample seating sunny or shade. A turkey or two may visit you which the youngsters will love seeing.

My only gripe with Pie in the Sky...NO Potato Pies?????

Another visit is on the cards.

If you're travelling north out of Sydney or returning to Sydney from the north, take the old Pacific Hwy and stop, revive and survive at Cowan (just north of Berowra) at the Pie in the Sky. Apart from the fresh hot pies (including gourmet ones) and sausage rolls, they have dessert fruit pies as well. You can also buy family sized pies to take home. Their hot chips on site are my favourite. We always stop by here on our way back from the Central Coast to let the kids out to run around and then feed them before we get home.

There are so many different pies to choose from, it is sometimes hard to make a selection! I have tried the chicken, beef and lamb pies, and my favourite is definitely the lamb. The meat is tender and the pastry is very tasty. The fruit pies offered for dessert are also wonderful, especially the blueberry!
