This is the one restaurant I dream, think, read and I'm now writing about. There really isn't anything spectacular or out of this world you must go to see but the food is simply well made, fresh and just amazingly juicy. I always order the calamari, margherita and olive all' ascolana!

As simple as it may sound these dishes will not only feel a hungry tummy but make you so happy inside! Its also a casual place you can hit up the 'Australian' way in a t-shirt, thongs and shorts or with your best pair of heels of a weekend. The area is trendy and it's a mixture of young and old who visit this scene. You're best bet is to go before 7 or 8pm on a weeknight and try to get in as early as you can on a weekend to avoid the long wait. You cannot make bookings but it is worth while the wait!

I promise you, this is one place you will not leave unsatisfied!

U cant book and parking in Surry Hills is almost impossible, but if you are happy to head to the clock or Dolphin for a drink while they find you a table i recommend giving Pizza e Birra a go!

Even from the street you can see the wood fire ovens that cook up some truly delectable pizzas but the birra part of this restaurant is not so obvious. From what i know the make their own beer here in NSW, but on all the occasions i have been i have never had any beer, perhaps this is my excuse to go back soon!

The place is dimly lit and well designed to make it quite an intimate space and the food is rustic, traditional and great for sharing with a partner of group of friends.

Dont go on the weekend and expect to get in, but do go its well worth the experience

I went to this place just before christmas so you can imagine how busy it was! And as they dont take bookings we had to wait an hour for a table. Anyhow, our group was quite impressed with the pizzas. They were actually really tasty and not soggy at all. I agree with some reviews about the lighting being too dim and it is quite noisy so dont expect a romantic dinner! But pizzas are definatley worth going for.

Pizza was soggy and service really ordinary .This place is past its prime the only good thing about the place is watching people walk by.

I've had great nights here and not so great nights.

Most times the pizza has been fantastic, though it is expensive if only a couple of people go. Best to share about 3 pizzas amongst 5 people.

Food is good. Overpriced, however, for what they are serve. Lighting is way too dim. A "romantic group dinner" is not my idea of a night out, especially when the place is very noisy. No bookings so you have to get there early and I felt a little as if they were doing me a favour. They try to turn the tables over quickly so don't think about relaxing after you've finished and hang on to your glass if it's nearly finished or it will get whisked away. 3 of us shared 4 stuffed olives, light salad, 3 stuffed zucchini flowers, 2 pizzas and a bottle of wine - $130.

This place is fantastic! The staff and management are friendly and greet in true Italian style. The pizza fantastic, ingredients fresh and the atmosphere perfect. I recommend popping in for lunch or meal Friday after work then slipping across the road to their new wine bar - Mille Vine - I think that's spelt correctly. Staff will really look after you at both venues.
