Porgie & Mr Jones is cosy and warm and an extremely popular café with the locals. With an all day breakfast, enjoy toasted breads with gourmet toppings, baguettes, salads, soups or an open steak sandwich. The café can also be booked for larger functions for either indoors, or in the garden outside beneath the canopy of trees. The café is open everyday.

Had the mcporgie muffin. Just right balance of egg and ham. Well toasted muffin had crunch. Great.

This cafe does live up to the hype! My toasted banana bread was amazing to the eyes and taste buds.
Don't think it will be my weekly regular due to the slight higher cafe pricing but certainly a nice treat every few weeks
    Two thumbs up!

It's rare I would mark a cafe as 5 stars but they just have it nicely and perfectly balanced. They take their coffee seriously and 9 times out of 10 it will some out perfectly (allpress coffee) - the barrista's are trained well. Apart from that they have a cool unique menu with some great selections and the food always tastes delicious.

The cafe is much bigger than you think - a nice section in the front (warm and rustic, wooden tables, funky light fittings) a decent section inside the "house" in the middle and then a large courtyard area out the back (great for groups). It is misleading the size of the place but the staff do well.
I have been here many times now and it is simply good, all the time. A lot of the surrounding cafes in hawthorn etc have gone downhill but it has stayed strong.
The only downside is how popular the place is - you can often wait quite a while for a table during busy periods and sometimes a takeaway coffee can take a while too. It's worth it though.
They now have a sister cafe in richmond/burnley called firends of mine (same menu etc) but it doesn't quite cut it compared to the original.

Definitely one of my favourite Melbourne breakfast/brunch spots. Porgie & Mr Jones is always packed! It's not uncommon to have to wait for table at this highly sought destination but like all good cafes is well worth the wait once you are seated. I love their coffee: consistently good - one of those sorts where afterwards you sigh with content. The all-day breakfast menu is fantastic featuring all the usual egg delights but with a difference. Try their folded scrambled eggs or veggie stack. Porgie & Mr Jones also has a reputation for its amazing gluten-free bread. I've tried it and it is hands down the best GF bread I've had. Great weekend destination with quick service and fantastic food!

Porgie and Mr Jones is a groovy and warehouse-like spot to enjoy a piadiana, pie or pizza.

It is the most devilish example of subliminal advertising. Every time I run the name of five-month-old Hawthorn cafe Porgie and Mr Jones, through my mind the first lines from Gershwin's classic from Porgy and Bess echo deep in my cranium: "I loves you, Porgy." After a recent visit that's pretty true. Although I would have loves you more if the special of three-cheese gnocchi with spinach and pine nuts had not strangely morphed into the special from yesterday's blackboard - mushrooms, cream and wilted rocket with gnocchi that was a little pasty. It also didn't help that service failed to notice the mistake on the plate on the long road they took together back from the kitchen. The cafe meanders through an alluring back area full of clubby couches and wingback chairs. Its front looks like a magpie collection of ephemera from some of Melbourne's favourite places. Let's call it decor sampling: ornate white birdcages, like at Little Byrd in Ascot Vale, earthenware flowerpots set in...
