Always a fun place to visit, especially when they have a really good exhibition on. I have always loved their focus on Asian art- including, over the years, a fantastic Korean wrapping cloth exhibition, Japanese street life in 'Fruit' & the exquisite works of Chinese-Australian artist Ah Xian. The fashion & design exhibitions are always good too. The permanent collection is worth a mention as although some of their exhibits are a little faded, the great educational aspect of the displays is still relevant to the hordes of kids who consume the place during the holidays.
Some of the hands-on areas could do with a bit of attention, such as Zoe's house, which is like a mini-construction site for under 6s. The building blocks are starting to look a tad chewed & tatty & some of the great equipment seems to be slowly falling apart. That said, this is still a great place to bring kids & they do a really good range of interpretive sessions for a range of ages. Big fan!

This is a place definitely for kids to learn all the mechanics behind machinaries. I like the place when they run some special shows every year, such as the Chinese History on Great Walls a few months ago, very educative, definitely worth going for. All information should on the Internet for you to check.

The Powerhouse Museum proves historical artefacts don’t have to be dusty or fossilised to be fascinating insights into our past. Focusing on science and design, the Powerhouse’s permanent exhibitions include the past, present and future world of computers, a history of housework and even an exploration of shopping in Australia from 1880-1930. Next time you need a reminder that Australian culture isn’t just about footy and thongs, this is the place to come.
