    We had friends down, and decided on fish and chips on the beach in the evening on a balmy night. Not having had f&c in Mornington before we enlisted the web to look at some reviews first before deciding. Prawn Star definitely had some good reviews! Well, it couldn't be further from the truth. It was a Friday night and admittedly it was busy! We ordered a range of items including grilled fish, crumbed fish and the staples (potato cakes, prawns, etc) The worst offender was the crumbed fish - looked almost dark brown in color, was about 3mm thick in most places (the fish not the crumb!) and was as dry as an old peice of paper! It was obvious by looking at it that it was overcooked so the staff should never have put it in the box. The other fish was ok, but what spoilt it was the the oil desperately needed changing. It had that horrible old flavour and spoilt everything. Also the chips didn't even have salt on them. It's fish and chips - we want salt! The packs (for 2 or more) were served with sweet potato cakes instead of normal potato, - maybe I didn't read the menu properly but I didn't see it written there. Overall, there was nothing about the meal we enjoyed. I have had great fish and chips before and some average fish and chips. This was the worst. Wont risk it again. Hopefully this review will prevent others from having their evening spoilt
