I have been to this place often enough 2 know that it is 1 of the best around.... the food is very good, drinks are up there but they fill the glass up. the out door smoking area is the best ive ever seen and if u dont smoke the indoor bar is the same as outside with tables tv's and so on. if u like music the dance floor goes off with a band and a dj. and if u want to sit and listen theres chairs to do that also. it caters 4 everyone and everything. sure people winge about stuff like everywhere... u cant please everyone... u winge about the line?? well go early. or food? go else where. flat beer? come on.... grow up.. security?? they do there job like all places. act stupid & carry on well what would u expect.... either way u look at it. every week the rooms are full with people eating drinking laughing and dancing. and every week the lines are huge. so it is obviously a good place 2 be or there wouldnt be a line.......

I have to say that this really is a venue that is rich with charm and character, none of this is displayed from the street, but once you enter you are instantly transported away from the hassle and bustle of the Richmond street life.I was lucky enough to have lunch at this great spot and I was delighted with the Hotels signature dish which is a succulent Rib Eye. The menu looked very tempting with a varied array of dishes ranging from Salmon through to a spaghetti that the Italians would be proud of!
This venue would suit a Sunday afternoon leisurely lunch gang or a Friday Party night group of the bold and the beautiful! Whichever way you chose to take it I guarantee that you will have some fun!

The decor is great, a roof that completely retracts made me think it was going to be a great summer venue - unfortunately average food and inflated prices means we won't be going back.

We've just found our new favourite Sunday lunch spot! Great food, friendly service and the courtyard is a fantastic set-up with retractable roof, plasma tvs for watching your favourite sport.

Precinct finds its strength less in esoteric mixed drinks and more in a sense that a good time can be had by all.

The rate at which Melbourne's sticky-carpeted, questionably decorated pubs are being transformed into wine bars and cafe-dinner-aperitif joints, sooner or later the rock dogs and beer fiends will have to crowd around a single tube on a street corner to get their pub fix. Which is not to say that Richmond's "new" Precinct Hotel was much more pubby when it was the Depot but I always feel a pang of sadness when a building that looks like it could be serving dodgy tap beer, nuts and a choice of AC/DC's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap or Cold Chisel's East on the stereo goes the way of the plasma-screen TV and the acoustic covers duo. Fortunately, once you get inside, the Precinct's genial atmosphere makes up for any disservices to the world of bad beer and filthy soft furnishings. Reimagined as a sort of cross between restaurant, al fresco cafe, pub and nightclub - which somehow works, particularly the airy courtyard-beer garden - the focal point, at least as far as Bar Fly's inter...
