Had a great experience at Prema, proper consultation how it should be, honest and got the haircut I wanted, whilst having a very friendly hairstylist. Good value for a fair price. Definitely going back and get Johnny to cut my hair again.

Finding an affordable yet decent hairdresser is something Ive struggled with ever since moving to Sydney three years ago. I booked a cut and colour at Prema after complimenting a friends hair and getting a recommendation in return. That was a year ago, and Ive been sporadically returning ever since.

I say sporadically because while they do have their fair share of star colourists (if youre blonde, ask for Eloise), there have been occasions when Ive left disappointed after a cut. My advice would be to be specific with what you want, because the staff are always willing to listen you just need to give them the right directions.

Regardless of the service you get, you cant deny that the interior of the salon is pretty cool (given its somewhat un-cool mall location). The long, communal table is always filled with clients flipping through magazines, while the staff buzz around them, attentively adhering to their coffee, colouring and cutting needs.

For the reasonable prices, you definitely get above-average results.

I decided to get my hair cut here one Friday afternoon. Was looking forward to it as had walked past the salon lots and its always busy...but I just wasn't overly impressed. I had just sat down, had started to flick through a magazine and one of the staff appeared behind me and told me to close my eyes and breath deeply twice for my Aveda experience... I was like uh? But I did and have to say, felt a little silly in the middle of the salon. The experience was a one minute head/shoulder rub thing. Then it was time to get my hair washed... not the most relaxing, a little rough, especially when combing out my wet hair. But I could cope with it. Then had my hair cut - he was great... admittedly there wasn't a lot he could do with my barnet so it was quite a simple cut/trim in the end, I paid $95 for the pleasure. Should have checked the prices really...for a basic trim/cut and the overall experience, not really worth it.
