According to the mechanic it's going to cost around $3000.00 to have the repairs completed. I find it hard to believe that they DIDN'T know of the pre existing mechanical problems when they sold me the vehicle.
On March 9 2010 I flew from Rockhampton to Southport and purchased a 1995 Nissan Maxima for $4990.00 for my daughter in law. Before leaving Southport I filled up with fuel, checked the oil, water and tyre pressures. The vehicle drove well and apart from a faulty air conditioner control performed well on the return trip to Rocky the following day. On thursday 18th the car started making noises and immediately "died".On trying to restart the vehicle smoke eminated from the engine bay....I waited for a while and then restarted the vehicle and drove the 400mtrs to home. I called the Dealer the next day and they told me it was covered by warranty and to take it to a Rockhampton mechanic... this I did first thing Monday morning 22 March. Before advising me to do this they asked if I had taken EXTENDED WARRANTY but I told them IT WASN'T offered to me... they replied "Thats OK" it's covered for the month as stated by their "partner?" as I had to drive the vehicle to Rocky which was about 800klms. Now that the repair bill to have the vehicle repaired is quite large low and behold...They now claim that the vehicle is NOT covered by warranty and they no longer have any responsibility and it's now up to me to pay to have it repaired.
