The Best Western Cattleman's Inn in Armidale is a mixed bag. First, yes, the rooms are pleasant enough for a mid range hotel in a country town. That part is fine. However, the experience of dealing with the staff is horrendous. We booked through a travel agent. When we arrived I saw a sign advertising frequent flyer points. I asked the man at the desk if we could claim those and he said no because "you haven't give me money." I didn't have a clue what this meant. I couldn't get him to clarify. I said we'd paid the travel agent and presumably they'd pay him but he kept saying we hadn't given him money. He was very strange. When we went to our room we found we didn't have a cot like we'd arranged when booking. They also refused to give us any linen for the cot because, to their mind, children are like diseased vermin. If they'd advised us of this policy we'd have brought our own but they said nothing when booking. We also had problems with the aggressive manageress. Avoid the staff here!

  Few things that need to be pointed out with this review: You would not be eligible for frequent flyer points as you have booked through a travel agent. Contrary to what you believe, the travel agent books through a wholesaler who purchases these rooms from the hotel. If anyone should make points off the booking, it would be them, hence the hotel telling you that you did not give them money. Second, cots can never be prebooked, this is something your travel agent should have advised you of when you made your booking. Not having linen for the cot is a vaild complaint and should have been escalated to the manager on duty. Hope this helps.
