Great little cinema that is cheap and is located at the Spot amongst all the restaurants so you can have a bite before a movie. They also have a nice bar and the cinemas themselves are always clean and comfy. Staff are friendly. Definitely recommend.
I have been going to the Ritz for over 30 years. It's been lovingly restored, although some of the seating could probably do with another update. This beautiful art deco cinema makes a lovely change from the sterile and modern cinemas that are churned out by the dozen. The prices are more reasonable than other cinemas in the area, there are always plenty of booster seats available for the children and it even has a car park next door....... not to mention the dozens of eateries surrounding it. I love taking my children to a place where my parents once took me. In this day and age of rip it down and replace it, it's so nice to see a piece of history still exists in the area.
The Randwick Ritz is very cool. I love the fact that it looks old fashioned from the outside with all of the flashing bulbs. Its one of the few old school cinemas left in Sydney.
Located in The Spot in Randwick it is surrounded by a heap of great restaurants. The spot is a hub of activity.
The Ritz has cheap Tuesdays where you can go and see a movie for under $10 - this is almost unheard of these days and such good value. Especially when you consider that the movies at Bondi Junction cost $21 on a regular night.
They have all of the latest and greatest movies on show and their seats are super comfortable. Their candy bar is always well stocked and not as expensive as the big cinema complexes.
Parking is a bit of hassle due to all of the restaurants that surround the cinema. You can usually find a park a short walk away.
I found this little gem of a cinema the other day whilst visiting the popular eating area know to local Randwick residents as The Spot.
Its not only a groovy old Art Deco cinema equipped with a bar, restaurant (of sorts) and an old fashioned candy bar, but its super cheap with a good mix of all the latest films!
The seats are old, and a bit worn out and due to the popular restaurants that surround it, parking can be a bit tricky but for the price of the ticket and the joy of sitting in a more traditional cinema that harps back to the golden era of film, I am certainly not complaining!
Its a great venue for a girls night or fundraiser and the staff seem more than willing to help with organising such events.
May not be Paris Ritz but its classy enough for Sydney Suburbia!
I went to see inception last night and event cinemas was full so I went to the Randwick Ritz. I used to love this cinema but realise now how crap it is. You are basically sitting on top of the people next to you on very uncomfortable seats. The sound was shocking. Every loud sound basically burst my ear drum with a low quality and very load sound. Sorry Ritz I won't be back.
Doesn't get much better than this. Cheap tix, byo 3D glasses for $1 off, great lolly bar (expensive but nothing like the city cinema prices). Great for kids parties and always have a great selection. Tess Robinson
