This cinema in Graceville must be doing something right as they have been trading since the 1920's with the current owners entrenched for the past 40 odd years.
It seem where other suburban theatres closed in droves with the advent of B&W TV in the 60's, VCR in the 70's DVD in the 80's, Megaplexs in the 90, Plasma TV in the 00's; just like the Queen, the Regal keeps on going strong.
While the outside looks post war austerity, the inside is a thoroughly modern twin cinema complete with digital projection and traditional film. With just 2 screens they somehow pick out just the very best art house movies all year long with just a couple of mainstream films a year that have universal appeal.
Ticket prices are realistic, the cinemas are spotlessly clean and the staff are all very friendly with a great family feel. Honestly if you grown up and still love movies but loathe those wretched Megaplex cinemas where you sit in other peoples rubbish and your feet stick to the carpet, this is the place for you.
Truly A hidden gem. Long live the Regal and long may she reign over us.
Take a step back in time when you visit the Regal, one of the oldest cinemas in the area. Not quite art-house, but with a solid and appealing choicein movies to appeal to their loyal clientele. A good alternative to the larger, noisier cinemas.
