Every so often, I'm surprised by the fact that a musical artist will perform there, and I go back and get all nostalgic.
It's always crowded when the music starts, but that's ok. I've seen many of my local music heroes perform here, and while I won't spend the rest of the night here, I will wander upstairs to have a drink on the balcony for old times sake. -

Ric's is mostly a venue for indie pop bands from Brisbane and interstate. Since 2008 the place has gone downhill. When I went in 2009 to meet somebody, the staff were very rude and unfriendly and humiliated me in front of other customers. After all these years of trading you would think that they'd clean up their toilet facilities as they are a shambles. Drinks are quite expensive but it's still a decent little venue if you want to have a couple of drinks with some mates or your g/f after work. -

Only started going to Ric's about a year ago, so I don't know how it "used to be". But I find that they play a good variety of music and it attracts a wide range of people. It has a relaxing sort of feel to it. A little more low key than some of the other bars nearby. -

Ric's used to be good, but the new owners installed an ageist, sexist door policy. They exclude the guys then try to entice their girlfriends to enter, they bar the entry of the old or the supposedly uncool. there's no more good art on the walls and the selection of bands is not as inspired as under previous owners. ric's was the best place in town - not anymore. -

Rics can be a great night out -good music, atmosphere...but, I have found the service terrible. I've walked in before on a quiet Monday night..the place was dead except a few people at the bar who seemed to be mates with the bar staff. I went up to get my friend and I a second drink, the bar person said they had stopped serving drinks for the night. Then a couple of minutes later we see them serving alcohol to their mates! When we confronted the bar person... even their mates thought that was rude of them and twisted their arm to serve us another drink. Sometimes the staff make you feel like its a hassle to serve you... that's their job I thought!? -

A great funky bar (more so upstairs) with a casual funky crowd that tends to be one of the few venues in the Valley that retain some of the old Valley feel before all the city nightclubbers moved in. Music seems to vary a lot but in general is a good, non-pretentious night to be had. -

We have been coming here for nearly a year and I'm almost hesitant to say positive things about them for fear they will be inundated and we'll miss out on our regular table. The coffee is the best in Brisbane bar none and the food from both ends of the price spectrum is beyond any reproach. The service is prompt and welcoming. Just one word of warning. Adhere to the keep right edict of waiting in line to order or else you may be prompted to do so. Enough said...you will find out.
