Rockpool is the venue for that extra special occasion or swanky client lunch as it is an expensive venue - particularly when it does not offer any harbour views. The decor is beautiful which creates a very elegant atmosphere. The menu offers a wide selection of delicacies which could leave you a little overwhelm if you don't come prepare. The sauteed prawns in garlic were delightful for entree and I would highly recommend the John Dory from the charcoal oven for main - simply superb and many compliments to the chef who has mastered this menu. Extensive wine list, fantastic service catering to every whim and overall a very beautiful place to dine out if you are not watching the budget

Absolutely gorgeous. Expensive but very much a special occasion place. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was a bit snobby/ corporate but still lovely/ enjoyable. Just a really nice dining experience. Would totally love to go again ... just have to save up for the wine! :-)

Sensational atmosphere. Feels like you're in an uber stylish manhattan bar.

Bar food is very good and not overly priced, but wine list is very expensive.

Came to Rockpool Bar and Grill for an anniversary/engagement dinner and all i can say is that the night was fantastic!!
Came into the restaurant and as our table was not ready yet we made our way to the bar had a few drinks the table was late by around 5 mins which is no biggie but the staff were apologetic and gave us complementary mini bite siz wagyu burgers which was very nice of them.

Once seated we were greeted by our waiter who was very nice and informative he gave us some reccomendations and also what wines would complement each dish. For an entree my fiance and i ordered the feta tortelini with the prawns. this was an absolute gem the prawns itself were beautiful in flavor and the tortelini was soft and very tasty.

For the main i received the 440g Rib eye on the bone and being completely honest... it was the best piece of meat i have ever eaten, this is no exageration either it was cooked to perfection exactly how i liked it, my fiance got the 50 minute roasted chciken that too was very nice and juicy it was not dry at all.

We ordered sides too but by the time we could eat everything we were full to the brink. The only regret is that i could not fit in a desert, but regardless this experience from the decor to the service was all outstanding and worth every single cent, i would strongly reccommend Rockpool bar and grill

OK, it's an expensive night out, but for me it was worth every cent! Sensational food, amazing wine list (the somelier couldn't have been more helpful), fabulous ambience and we couldn't have asked for more from our waiter (who remembered us from the last time we were there, which was 6 months prior!). We've been twice now and will most definitely be going back. For us it's a place we go to for special occasions, and we soak it up and enjoy every minute of it. Other than the price, there's nothing I could complain about. I love it!

To be honest this place is just an overpriced steak joint, admittedly the most luxurious steak joint you'll dine in, but a steak joint nonetheless. It's expensive but you are well looked after. First think you'll notice is the ornate, art deco decor - I think it was an old school bank in a former life. First stop should be the bar where you can enjoy a cocktail, beer or glass of wine.
For your meal it's either seafood or steak (you can pay $110 for the best one). It's cooked to perfection but you really have to ask is a steak worth $110.
You do have to order sides with your main so you never get the feeling the chef has created a taste sensation for you.
If you're not sure about wine the sommelier is happy to surprise you, and they don't just go for the top priced ones rather choose something to match your food.
All in all fun but probably not going to be a regular hangout for me.

    Yes it's expensive.

Yes, you can pay $110 for a sirloin.

    Yes, the wine is expensive.

    Yes, this place is fantastic.

Neil Perry's Rockpool Bar & Grill is an impressive space. Soaring ceilings, beautifully & luxuriously fitted out and with chandeliers made out of wine glasses ( you'll just have to go visit Rockpool to see them) Rockpool Bar & Grill is a special occasion restaurant with food as impressive and the decor. I can now eat brussell sprouts thanks to Neil Perry ( fried with speck) OMG! and have a taste for mac & cheese. You can order these as side dishes and were the highlights of my visit. I'm a man of simple tastes at times. I didnt eat a steak but the ones on the table next door looked fanastic. We stuck to pasta and oysters and it was all beautifully done. The wine selection , as I said ,is pricey but the sommelier was exceptionally helpful and knowlegeble. The wait staff are as you would expect from a Neil Perry restaurant - totally professioanl but with personality, charm and a great understanding of the menu. I would not hesitate in recommending this place.

Didn't live up to the hype for me I'm afraid. Maybe we went on a bad night, or maybe it was the corner we were tucked away in, but the service was seriously lacking - unfriendly and very slap-dash. The food was good but not great and certainly not memorable, which was surprising considering the high prices. The massive dining room is beautiful, a shrine to art deco architecture and very New York. But I won't be back. Like I said we may have just gone on a bad night but I expected so much more considering the prices and the reputation.

Rockpool Bar and Grill is possibly the only Sydney fine dining establishment where it’s entirely appropriate to eat with your hands and put your elbows on the table as you dig in to the famous Wagyu burger. Served in the bar, this burger comes with bacon, gruyere and zuni pickle on a posh brioche bun. The house rules say ‘no hooting, no hollering’ but we can’t help celebrating, as anything from Neil Perry this good for just $22 is a steal.

“Back slapping after six drinks should be tempered with mercy. Best manners are expected at all times. No hooting or hollering.” This is the direction on behaviour on the drinks menu at Rockpool. High rollers drink proper drinks, like ‘Sydney’s Best Mule’ in plush leather chairs.
