This drive is a windy one. You?ll go around corners, twists and turns that lead deep into the bush. Just when it feels like you?ve gone too far, the trees start to thin and rows of houses appear. Just 30km south of Sydney?s CBD, Bundeena is the small town surrounded by national park on one side and ocean on the other.
It?s also accessible by passenger ferry, so park the car in Cronulla to boat it. Fish and chips from the local chippery are best enjoyed on the wharf?s grassy shore. If you want to work up an appetite, there are bike trails, walking tracks and several beaches to explore before lunch.
The Royal National Park is Australia oldest and the world second oldest registered National Park. There are plenty of nice walks and Rock Paintings to discover and the most scenic drive. Come by ferry to Bundeena and enjoy the view to Cronulla!
Probably one of the most beautiful national parks I've been to - and a very accessible drive between Wollongong & Sydney. It could, however, do with a few more places to stop, get out & enjoy the forest (though the lookout over the water is simply breathtaking). Great place for a romantic drive (if your beloved doesn't get car sick - it is a bit windy in parts).
