We stayed here while visiting family in Perth. The hotel is nice enough - though it feels distinctly dated. The staff are overwhelmingly professional, courteous and efficient. The male staff were all chattier and more easy going than the female staff.
The room was very reasonably priced - as a tip become a Rydges Priority guest and you get half price internet access and a discount off food (though sadly not off the very highly priced breakfast).
The coffee here is good (and I'm fussy about my coffee) and the barista charming - she was very efficient, too.
Our view from the 14th floor was great, although we paid for that with the 1.30 am fire alarm on the Saturday night. Unlike many of the hotel guests that night, we evacuated, preferring that to finding out if the alarm was real or not. The staff dealt with that incident exceptionally well. Shame the guests couldn't.
The bed was comfy, the AirCon very effective, the bathroom a bit of a let down, but perfectly serviceable. Housekeeping staff very concise in their duties and polite.
I'd recommend it if you can book ahead and secure a deal, but I wouldn't pay the going rate they ask, not until they do a refurb.
