A nice restaurant that was far from blowing me away. Friendly service, but food was a bit hit and miss. We went for lunch, so I might try for dinner when the atmosphere shuld be more vibrant since it's in such a great central location.
More of a place to go for dinner, as we were the only table for lunch between 12pm - 2pm, although it lacked ambience the food came out ultra quick. The menu is long, with plenty of options ranging from noodles, salads, curries etc and all were ok. I will definitely be going back for another meal with friends in the evening.
We came here for a work lunch and although the restaurant said closed, it seemed to be open just for us. What treatment! The food came out relatively quickly and was extremely delicious. Decent sized portions too. No standouts, but i'll admit everything i tried including the curry beef, san choy bao, chicken friend rice and dim sim were all really good. Four stars for me. I'd definitely go back if i'm in the area and after some good Asian.
Saigon Bay is a restaurant you could walk past and not even notice it's there - which is quite a shame. Nestled amongst the row of restaurants on Oxford St, Saigon Bay is the place to get authentic Vietnamese food without having to trek out to Cabramatta. With a focus on fresh herbs and vegetables, and minimal use of oil it's a healthy alternative to other Asian cusines. The menu has at least a hundred different options which is a blessing and a curse! You'll find something to suit everyone's taste, but good luck making the decision. Make sure you start with the fresh spring rolls and make the salt and pepper squid a must try. The service is professional yet relaxed, a great BYO restaurant for any night of the week, highly recommended.
Nice and a big selection of food - though service was a little slow but the night we were there it was pretty busy. Generally your typical Asian restaurant, nothing to make it stand out and prices average for the area. I recommend.
The atmosphere, staff, food and overall Saigon Bay experience was exquisite. The Sizziling Tofu was utterly amazing- the best I've ever had. You have to try this place at least once.
Went on Friday with a group of friends. We where sat down straight away and had our food ordered in 10 mins. The food was amazing...especially the Salt and Pepper Squid. If you like vietnamese then this is the place to go. Booking is a must.
I had my birthday party here. The staff were so wonderful and let me bring in balloons to decorate my table of 20. You can really tell the difference when a place is family run as the level of service surpassed my expectations. The table setting was perfect, and they put all our wine and beer in the fridge to keep it cold and were fast on bringing it back out.
now.. the FOOD - AMAZING!! everyone raved about it, my stand out dish was the salt and pepper calamari.
There is a secret balcony upstairs which was perfect for the smokers at my table and great for drinking on in between courses.
After dinner they bought our fruit platters of grapes and watermelon and an ice cream dish with a sparkler for my birthday.
A truly enjoyable night, great little spot. I will definitely be going back. Make sure you book on a Saturday night - the place was full both upstairs and downstairs by 8pm.
