Sammy's On The Marina

Directions
Seafood for a meal with a view it is hard to go past Sammy's On The Marina. The seafood specialist in the Holdfast Shores development has a premier waterfront location with views over the marina, out to sea and down Glenelg beach. Diners can sit outside or go inside the two-storey restaurant and take in the views from behind big windows. The main dining room is bright and breezy, with light wooden tables and a subtle nautical theme. Three waitresses converged as we sat down delivering bread, dipping oil, water and menus. A selection of 18 hot and cold entrees run from oysters, warm Moreton Bay bug salad and lightly crumbed tiger prawns. Main courses include Streaky Bay garfish or whole baby snapper but many go for seafood platters which are so big they sit elevated on stands on the table. The Captain's Choice has two big, sweet garfish fillets lightly crumbed, topped with a skewer of scallops and served with chips and salad.

Sammy's on the Marina is with out a doubt the best located restaurant on the beach in Adelaide, offering spectacular views, Dolphins in the water, amazing sunsets, Ideal for a romantic evening or any special occasion. Also caters for large groups. We chose from an extensive menu, their signature sea food platter.consisting of nine delectable fresh varieties of sea food, When it was served, it looked amazing, and tasted even better. Sammys on the Marina, is recognized as Adelaide's finest Seafood Restaurant.and we would not disagree. The restaurant is circular on two levels, both offering spectacular views, the decor is elegantly seaside themed. The dessert menu offered a variety of popular favorites, plus a chefs special, which completed a thoroughly satisfying culinary experience.
A good range of wines ensure a perfect accompaniment to you choice of meal. The coffee was excellent and so was the service. Reservations recommended.

Sammy's has been on my favorites list for awhile. The food is generally good, the drinks list is well done but service is average ( please wipe that grin off your face next time :/ )

Nice food however the service is really average. Too long a wait to order a drink, too long to
order food and just not that much care shown. What should have been a great night was
    disappointing

Sammy's has good views however, we were seated upstairs in what appeared to be an overflow / unused function room area. This could be why the service was a bit lacking. We weren't offered water until we asked for it well into the meal and it took a while for the drinks to arrive. However, the staff were really friendly. No problems with the kitchen as the food came out in a timely manner. The food was generally good - the only real complaint was that the amount of olive oil and dukkah that came with the bread was small compared to the amount of bread! The scallops were also on the small side. Can highly recommend the snapper - it was a decent serve and it was perfectly cooked.

Great food, not the cheapest but then again you get what you pay for, and the food here is excellent.. views of the beach just add to the dining experience and is a beautiful place to dine anytime of the year, but in the summer there is just something about eating seafood at the beach,, love it.

This restaurant was a favourite of ours in the past. Havent been for about a year and decided to go for a special occasion last weekend. On booking for 2 people, we were told that there were plenty of tables to choose from but arrived and were shown to a table that was in against a corner, one seat facing the window, I faced the wall with a lovely view of the kitchen staff washing up over my partners shoulder....not a good start! But we were looking forward to the food. Unfortunately things got worse. My partners prawn skewer entree was disappointing as the prawns were overcooked.
My main of Atlantic Salmon was nice, but nowhere near as good as the Atlantic Salmon dish I had ordered on a past visit (- I raved over that to anyone who would listen for weeks!) My partners choice of Seafood Pasta was terrible. The sauce was oily and coagulated. He actually felt unwell on our walk home. We wont be returning.
    Prices - Above average.
    Food - Very average!

Delish fish... but quite pricey... Come for a special occasion on a weekend during the day and see if you can sit upstairs (the view is better there). Bring your sunnies as it's pretty bright.
