Samurai Japanese Cafe is more a restaurant than a cafe, but regardless of that minor technicality the food is delicious. As the name suggests, this eatery specialises in serving fresh, flavoursome, well-presented Japanese cuisine. Favourites on the menu include the soft shell crabs, salmon tataki and of course, the sashimi. Meanwhile, the ambience is warm and cosy, with lighting that glows being emanated from behind ornate lanterns and umbrellas.     Great little Japanese restaurant in Balmain! It's actually got a tiny shopfront with not very obvious signage, so it's easy to miss if you were driving past. We've eaten here and taken away, and both times the food was great. We walked in on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was surprisingly busy!

    If you like your sashimi, it's not as cheap as some other places but the quality is great. The bento boxes which are about $20 a box are extremely great value. We also ordered a soft shell crab dish which came with a beautiful vinegar dipping sauce, as well as an eggplant dish with a sweet miso sauce. Mmmm...

    Great restuarant.
    The food, service and atmostphere was great.
    I was expecting the bill to be double what it was.
    An ideal venue to catch up with friends for social dinner and drinks.
