I took my cat to Dr Boersma after having gone to 3 other vets (1 in Huonville, 2 at Kingston Animal Hospital). Unlike the other three, he used an extremely simple and inexpensive diagnostic method to figure out what was wrong with her. The vets at Kingston Animal Hospital had told me that I should think about having a biopsy done on my cat (at a cost of over $500), and gave her shots and cortico-steroid cream, and on my follow-up appointment told me to keep going with the ineffective and very stressful treatment regime they had come up with during the first appointment, instead of first using the extremely simple, non-invasive diagnostic method that Dr Boersma used.
It would have prevented a lot of stress on my cat, my partner, and me (and have saved me at least $300) if I had gone to SBVP in the first place. It seems that some veterinarians just want to make money out of people, while vets like Dr B actually want to see the animal get better.
Oops! I accidentally wrote "Kingston Animal Hospital" above, when I meant "Channel Highway Animal Hospital" (a.k.a. "Tas Animal Hopital"). (They're both in Kingston, so I got confused.) Sorry about that, I have little to no experience of Kingston Animal Hospital.
