  • To Sappho Books - Tapas & Wine Bar
Sappho is a must visit for those who enjoy reading over a good cup of tea or coffee. Peruse their multitude of floor to ceiling bookshelves over two stories, once you have selected a stack to your liking, order a drink and/or nibbles and read. If anything grabs you, buy it on your way out! The books are all second-hand and very cheap, and the coffee is good. The perfect way to relax on a Saturday after the Glebe markets!

I LOVE this place, it actually has an excellent selection of books and you can just grab a coffe (or spiced apple cider) and read surrounded by books it's great. THe only thing is the food is pretty expensive for what you get, but still a great place!

I feel like this is a little secret gem but it's not really so secret because it's always quite busy! At the back of the Sappho book store is a cafe, tapas and wine bar. Once you head through the little cafe into the outdoor area at the back, there is a beautiful garden that extends right back. Its just lovely. I had been to Glebe markets and was in need of retreat from the heat and the crowds. I bumped into a friend and she ushered me through to the back of this gorgeous little bookstore. I couldnt believe the size of the courtyard out the back! Beautiful and leafy, it was a little piece of tranquillity on a busy Saturday afternoon. The staff were laid back and friendly and service was quick. I had a breakfast wrap, which comprised of bacon, scrambled eggs, spinach and tomato. It was perfect toasted, not too heavy at all. The coffee was also great. My next trip here will be for happy hour and tapas as have heard its great. When you've revived with a little food and coffee it is very easy to lose yourself in the cute second hand book store.
