Right on glebe point road it looks really inviting on the outside since it?s also a bookstore! It?s got a really nice and relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy your cake or dish with a book in the courtyard. You couldn?t tell that it has a courtyard by just looking from the outside but it?s worth a visit with good food and vibes.
This place is tucked away, easy to miss if you're strolling down Glebe Point Rd on a busy saturday. But behind the second hand book shop is a secret garden cafe. I've had a couple of misses with the food but it's never bothered me as I enjoy the calm vibe and the huge back garden. Lots of space to relax without feeling like you're unintentionally eavesdropping on the table nearby.
Was very happy to be introduced to Sappho's by a local, not sure I would have found it otherwise! Great mixture of cafe, lounge, study area and bookshop rolled into one. The coffee was great an ciabatta bread lovely for a light meal. A great quirky find in Glebe.
I feel like this is a little secret gem but it's not really so secret because it's always quite busy! At the back of the Sappho book store is a cafe, tapas and wine bar. Once you head through the little cafe into the outdoor area at the back, there is a beautiful garden that extends right back. Its just lovely. I had been to Glebe markets and was in need of retreat from the heatread more
Sappho offers a top quality selection of second hand books in a relaxed, ambient atmosphere. Then after you've made your choice order a coffee from the cafe and pop out the back to the sunny courtyard to start your latest read. And with new stock in every week its worth becoming a regular, even if its only for the great coffee.
