Fitzroy Podiatry is a private Sports Podiatry practice that specializes in the assessment of lower limb posture and function and the assessment and treatment of lower limb pain and injury. Walking analysis is important in the diagnosis of chronic overuse injuries. Sports men and women or people who spend a lot of time on their feet are particularly at risk for developing pains. Sometimes custom foot orthotics ('arch supports') are necessary to see symptoms resolve. This requires plaster cast impressions to be taken of both feet. Consideration of all contributing factors such as footwear, training regime, flooring at home & work etc. is essential to optimize short and long term treatment results. We liase with other health care providers (eg. osteopaths, myotherapists etc.) to ensure symptoms resolve as quickly as possible and that the risk of injury recurrence is reduced. Typical injuries we see include heel & arch pain, shin splints, bunions, achilles tendinitis, growing pains in children & adolescence, knee and joint pains. Our fees are rebateable by all Private Health Insurers. DVA and TAC patients are welcome.
