The Scarborough Hotel is Wollongong's oldest licensed venue and in fact, the town itself, (formerly known as South Clifton,) was named after the venue. Opened in the late 1880's, the hotel retains period features, giving it a warm and charming pub atmosphere. The cliff side location of the Scarborough means you can enjoy uninterrupted ocean views. There is a bistro which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and you'll find full gaming facilities available and a good selection of beers, spirits and wine.

Fantastic view, perhaps the best in the land. Unfortunately the Food and Service appears to be relying on this wonderful aspect to carry the day. The menu was extremely limited, and the food of poor quality, with no reasonable chicken dish, and a 'minute' steak as the beef option. Perhaps the clue is given by the failure to list the menu on their website. The staff were of mixed calibre, with some quite helpful and others reluctant to interrupt their day with customer requests. No EPTPOS, or credit card payments, coupled with an out of order ATM, and overpriced meals had myself and other customers scrambling to find the currency to pay. As a long term, customer returning I was severely disappointed, and will not be hurrying back. Can only recommend as a "drop in" for a quick refreshment if passing by, not as a destination.

Love the outdoor area and water views. Meals aren't cheap but worth it considering the size, presentation and priceless views while enjoying your meal. We could even watch the whales swim in the ocean. My boyfriend and I have also popped by on occasion and shared a lighter meal like Bruchetta and a few drinks which is perfect on a sunny day. I would recommend getting there early if you want an outdoor picnic table and same with ordering food or drinks to avoid queues on busy days.

AMAZING!!! - Great location, food is fantastic (anybody who complains about these meals has rocks in their head) Big meals - i reccommend the salt and pepper squid. Price is reasonable. Views are stunning - we were even able to watch the Whales playing whilst eating our lunch! The hotel had a facepainter to entertain the kids - fantastic day out - will most certainley be back!

A little over an hour drive from the city, through the national park, and you'll find this pub with spectacular views over the ocean. Head outside for the beer garden lawn, and enjoy the coastal scenery. The pub itself still has an old school charm. The food is fine, but very overpriced for what it is. Drinks are priced well but it's really all about the view at this place.

Superb location, shame the rest lets it down...

This hotel/pub is well worth a visit. The place sits on the edge of the cliff with spectacular sea views. The outdoor area is delightful with tables set in a large grassed area perfect for admiring the view. I have to say though, the food and drink does not live up to that view. I had moroccan chicken as a main at $28.95 and it was very disappointing - the chicken bone dry. Sadly, the wine by the glass wasn't great either, something I think is always a good measure of how good an eatery is. With such an effort made on the refurbishment of this place, it's a shame that effort doesn't extend to the menu.

Everyone always says its all about location and this place has it in spades! The simply awesome cliff-side views are complimented by the great renovations - probably the best looking beer garden i have been to. I have eaten dinner there twice now and the food is excellent, big portions and quality food (although the prices are a too tad high to make it a regular dinner stop). Great pub food and if at all possible it seemed that the portions were even bigger the second time - and they even added the vegetarian risotto that my girlfriend ordered on our first visit to the menu by the second time we came. A must stop if you are traveling down south (or if you live close enough like me) - but any excuse will do.

Amazing!! – I think this could possibly be the best pub in Australia. Situated right on the coast looking back towards the amazing scenery of the Royal National Park. After what looks like extensive (and impressive) renovations the pub has been transformed into must stop on the way down the coast road from Sydney to Wollongong. The interior is bright and welcoming, but it is the beer garden that is what draws you in. A massive lawn, new gardens and a set of great tables right on the cliff edge. Highly recommended!
