This salon is my favourite place to go for a haircut in the inner west. A trendy salon but with staff who really listen to what I want done with my hair. Have recommended it to quite a few friends and all were equally happy with their colours/cuts.
I had my first experience with this place yesterday. The stylist used clippers than scissors (like a barber). I was expecting a good haircut but was dissapointed. Stylist couldnt handel the scissors properly on the top I had to pay top dollar for the haircut. I dont recommend this place to anyone. The only positive thing was the host was courteous but the stylist was poor I believe a barber will do a better job than what he did.
I don't think i've ever had anyone notice my new haircut as much as when i had my first appointment here at Scissorhands with Nathan. I received so many compliments in the weeks after my cut..... and now over a month later it still looks great, well its definately the happiest i've been with a haircut for a long time. I'll definately be back as a regular.
I really like Scissorhands. They're often good with offering advice if you're not sure what to do, but not too pushy about it. Alot of hairdressers used to get excited that my hair can be dyed white so easily and ignore my instructions about the colour I wanted. The colourists at Scissorhands have always done what I've asked and done it well enough that people compliment me on the street. Just beware, if you want a weekend appointment, they're popular (with good reason).
This low key yet funky salon combines Newtown's former off-beat charm with considerable skill. Ali, one of the owners, has cut my hair for 15 years. She knows I'm hopeless at style, so she gives me a haircut that stays stylish for the 4 months it takes me for to organise another haircut, and I don't have to know anything more than how to muss my hair with my fingers when I dry it. They never push product on you, they are kind to children, and they can explain why they do what they do so that it's easy to look great after you leave. I always feel professional, interesting and attractive when I leave. Definitely a hidden gem.
