I have been here a couple of times. We normally just order chips and 4 crumbed cod or whatever deal is going that is similar. I find it more expensive compared to other places for what you get. The food is good though but there are better value for money places around I think.
I stumbled across this fish and chip place like second below user kimbobo did, my current fish and chip shop was closed because it was ester. I went in ordering $3 worth of chips, perch, snapper, potato scallop, and a home made pattie burger. Let me tell you! The chip sizing/price is wonderful you get a bunch for what you ask for, my perch and snapper were absolutely fantastic I could tell they were not frozen goods, they had a wonderful taste to them, when the lady gave me back my order she even told me that they thought the snapper was to small so they chucked in another piece free of charge! The potato scallop that they claim to be home made, was delicious; no complaints about that and lastly, the burger, the HIGHLIGHT of my meal, I think they call it the burger with the lot? it had everything on it! It was delicious, such good value for what I paid. I've now ditched my old fish and chip should and now am a weekly visitor and Seafood On The Rocks.
If you have any worries or complaints the staff are nice and easy to talk to, I've never had a problem they're always smiling and ready to have a conversation. Ooh did I mention when you dine in you can ask for a free complimentary glass of water! They always have the TV going with some good old fashion music whilst you're waiting. Speaking of waits, I come mostly dur in the weeks and on weekends and on the weekdays I come, I'm waiting ten minutes maximum and on weekend (especially Friday's) my wait is about half an hour but that is to be expected if you go in there and see how many people are waiting for there order the place is usually swarming with people!
Thank you Seafood On The Rocks for your amazing service and your unbelievably mouth watering food!
Our normal fish and chip shop in Mitchelton was closed for christmas so we decided to try the one at keperra. We ordered 1 chiko roll, 3 potato scallops and $6 worth of chips and a fish cake.
Chiko roll and potato scallops and chips tasted like they were frozen packet cooked up (so not fresh or hand made) and $6 worth of chips only fed the 2 kids, the amount of chips we got did not even look like 1 scoop, we normally get $4 at the other place and its 3 large scoops worth so i was dissapointed with how much you to pay to get so little. Might pay $12 next time so we can get a full scoop.
On the upside my partner said the fish cake tasted beautiful, so they have nice seafood but the rest wasnt too enjoyful and expensive. Would go back there but only if the one we normally go to is shut.
Loved the fish burger I had here this week - very fresh, beautiful tasting fish and plenty of it, great price at $7 for the works, and lovely coffee as well. It was quiet when I went there for lunch (and it was a Monday) but have noticed that the shop is usually very busy in the evenings and on weekends.
extrememely happy with the fresh seafood i bought at christmas time. i left it a bit late to place my order, however they had plenty of fresh seafood still available. local prawns, oysters, bugs and crabs heaps more too. I eat alot of seafood and could tell that everything i purchased was fresh, not frozen. Also, prices were very reasonable. I think i paid $27 a kg for crystal bay prawns, same prawns were being sold for $50 a kg elsewhere. although the shop was full of customers, The staff were still polite and organised. They offered me ice and packed it in a styrofoam container which i didnt have to pay for. I bought my seafood elsewhere last christmas, and had to pay $13 for a box. Thankyou staff at seafood on the rocks for making my christmas lunch so enjoyable. with thanks, Jono.
I have become a regular at Seafood on the Rocks as the fish is always fresh. I started going here as it is difficult to find any decent fish in a supermarket!! I'm not into all the exotic types of fish. I generally just buy firm white fish (e.g. Perch) to take home and cook.
I have been buying fresh seafood here for at least 6 months and have always found the service to be friendly and efficient.
I always buy my fresh seafood from here, it is always fresh and they have a large variety available. They pack it in ice- ,free of charge, and they even gave me a free cooler bag with my purchase. (i wouldnt have gotten that if i bought my seafood elsewhere) ive bought my fresh seafood for christmas here for the past 2 years and will definitley be putting in another order this year. great service!
Oh where to start...
Possibly the longest wait for a burger and chips. Half hour minimum.
But you do get to sit in those really uncomfortable chairs out the front and watch everybody else get there order before you.
AND when questioned where my order was, "OH SORRY WE FORGOT"
Nice work.
