Perching on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful Sydney Harbour and the Opera House, this hotel was definitely one of the best I've ever stayed in Sydney. The service was absolutely impeccable, and the view from the window was absolutely priceless. Whilst I would only stay here on a rare basis (due to the high cost!), the couple of times that I have stayed have been absolutely memorable.
The decor at the Shangri-La is definitely dated, but you can't beat the views this hotel has to offer of Sydney. We stayed in a Premier Suite which was on a corner giving us uninterrupted views from the Opera House right back to the start of the Bradfield Highway.
We didn't have much interaction with the staff because we had someone else check in on our behalf, but the suite was extremely spacious, with a huge bathroom and bedroom, a separate living room and an additional restroom adjoining the living area. I managed to squeeze in a visit to the spa as well, which was heavenly.
I stayed at the Shangri-la hotel only a week ago for my birthday. I stayed in a suite on the 14th floor which was absolutely stunning. Amazing facilities, 2nd toilet for guests in the lounge room of the suite and plenty of bathroom products that you wouldnt see at a standard hotel.
A little glitch with the toilet flushing and the holding deposit on the room but an over-all AMAZING hotel that I would find it hard to be disappointed in.
Recently stayed here for a night in a king size suite with an opera house view...and that was a very apt description. No false or misleading advertising here - the bed was sizeable & worthy of a king, the room was suite in its size & sweet in its decor. But the masterpiece is the view. Breathtaking. The staff were polite but not overly helpful, which was my one piece of constructive criticism. Overall - a great hotel, good services, great bars, OK restaurants, great location & a superb view!
