With a name like the Shark Hotel you are correct in assuming that pool plays a big part at this Sydney club. With fourteen pool tables on site, this establishment is popular amongst pool enthusiasts and emerging amateurs. Yet it is equally famous for its inexpensive classic pub meals in the bistro. Meanwhile, head upstairs of this Art Deco building to the nightclub and enjoy the DJs spinning their records.

I come here a lot after work on Fridays, the drinks are cheap and so is the pool. After 9pm, they dim the lights and crank the music up. Pool is slightly harder to play after the lights are dimmed! The thai place inside does very nice food and is always packed.
  • I came past here a couple of weeks ago on a Friday late-afternoon and the noise/music was was too loud. Everything else was average.

great for some after work drinks. they do a good promotion during happy hour 5-7. Always seems to be busy. The decor is very trashy so its definitely a cheap and cheerful venue. The Thai Holy Basil is very good and would recommend that not the cheapest Thai but you get for you pay for. Green Curry and Fried ice cream yum yum

Been here a couple of times. The buffet is nice (reasonable price with foods getting replenished regularly). Drinks here are average could get a bit noisy at times as it gets late into the night.
  • I like Shark hotel because the people there are generally friendly. Also, the place is massive, no matter how many people are there I will always be able to find a seat. The Thai place inside also serves some famous fried ice cream, which is goo when you get the munchies from drinking. And my favourite part is the smoking areas upstairs.

Holy Basil in the Shark Hotel is awesome! Since that restaurant was established inside, it has kept me going back to the Shark Hotel. Shark Hotel is otherwise ok, drinks are reasonable. I saw one staff member who couldnt understand a British guy's accent so ignored him and didnt serve him, which I thought was not cool but I havent had any problems here so far. They have a few pool tables which fill up quickly and a small dance floor

A huge hole. Food is bad and venue looks unappealing.

Dirt cheap steaks on wednesdays and cheap drinks every day. Very international crowd which makes it fun during international sporting events. Watched Australia play Japan here recently on one of the many large screens. Very good.

Good place to have a cheap steak & chips lunch. They use Angus beef as well which means the steaks are quite decent quality yet still affordable. Doesn't look like much from the outside but is quite spacious inside.

  • Shark Hotel is value for money. Thursday nights is Karaoke night with $4 meals and $4 beer. Other nights they have $3 steak which (regardless of the quality) is still great value. It's a nice place to go for a drink once you have knocked off after work. It's cheap (price wise), but it is no where near as trashy as one might assume from the bargains advertised.
The pub has an open feel and a very relaxed atmosphere. Add this to the great (i.e: 'cheap') food, and what more could you want!
