With a name like the Shark Hotel you are correct in assuming that pool plays a big part at this Sydney club. With fourteen pool tables on site, this establishment is popular amongst pool enthusiasts and emerging amateurs. Yet it is equally famous for its inexpensive classic pub meals in the bistro. Meanwhile, head upstairs of this Art Deco building to the nightclub and enjoy the DJs spinning their records.

I like Shark hotel because the people there are generally friendly. Also, the place is massive, no matter how many people are there I will always be able to find a seat. The Thai place inside also serves some famous fried ice cream, which is goo when you get the munchies from drinking. And my favourite part is the smoking areas upstairs.
Holy Basil in the Shark Hotel is awesome! Since that restaurant was established inside, it has kept me going back to the Shark Hotel. Shark Hotel is otherwise ok, drinks are reasonable. I saw one staff member who couldnt understand a British guy's accent so ignored him and didnt serve him, which I thought was not cool but I havent had any problems here so far. They have a few pool tables which fill up quickly and a small dance floor
Dirt cheap steaks on wednesdays and cheap drinks every day. Very international crowd which makes it fun during international sporting events. Watched Australia play Japan here recently on one of the many large screens. Very good.
Good place to have a cheap steak & chips lunch. They use Angus beef as well which means the steaks are quite decent quality yet still affordable. Doesn't look like much from the outside but is quite spacious inside.
Shark Hotel is value for money. Thursday nights is Karaoke night with $4 meals and $4 beer. Other nights they have $3 steak which (regardless of the quality) is still great value. It's a nice place to go for a drink once you have knocked off after work. It's cheap (price wise), but it is no where near as trashy as one might assume from the bargains advertised.
The pub has an open feel and a very relaxed atmosphere. Add this to the great (i.e: 'cheap') food, and what more could you want!
Don't be confused by the average looking entry at street level. Once you go up the stairs you suddenly enter a very roomy and nicely layed out pub. The $6.50 lunches are amazing- the schnitzel was soo crispy! Only comes with chips though- no side salad. There's a great atmopshere and it's only when you leave that you remember that it's a workday and its time to get back to work!
I'm a fan of playing pool, so this place is a good start with a few mates...play a few games and then head onto somewhere more lively for a party atmosphere. If you just want to play pool then this is a good place for you to visit.
