Shiki

Directions
The Hyatt Regency's Shiki Japanese Restaurant gives us impeccable service and fine tableware, things that underpin a sense of occasion. Shiki also throws a welcome bit of fun into the mix. Its teppanyaki-style dining is as entertaining as it is delicious. You can opt for a la carte, but a seat around the giant grill provides a feast of action as the chefs provide some theatre. In a large group, you can't help but have fun at the culinary show.

An experience worthy of its high price tag.
Shiki offers excellence in food and service and I would highly recommend them for a special evening

For a special occasion where you want something a bit different - this is the place for you. From the moment you walk into the Japanese "garden" you forget that you're in a large chain hotel because it's so peaceful. I love that most customers are seated around the teppanyaki grills so that you can watch your own meal (and others) being cooked. The menu is structured around a lot of smaller meals which means you can try a bit of everything. The highlight dish for me was the whiting with coriander pesto, but the prawns, oysters, steak, asparagus etc were all good too.

Great chance to sample so many Japanese delicacies, with a bit of fun watching it all made on the teppanyaki grill. Great for a crowd of 10 or take your chances with the people who will share your table. One for special occasion budgets, but not too formal.

Everyone loves a good ham. Not the meat but a flamboyant showman, and Shiki offers fine dining with a splash of theatre.

FINE-DINING restaurants tend to play heavily on formality - fine food is serious business.
