Shillinglaw Cottage is a unique heritage building boasting a large family friendly alfresco garden, cosy open fire dining room and ample parking. Offering Australian Cuisine our seasonal menus allow us to embrace the best available fresh ingredients and create dishes of the highest quality.  
The Lunch menu offers classics such as Succulent Duck Caesar, and in the Evening Homemade Beetroot Gnocchi with a Creamy Gorgonzola Sauce. Or pop in for a decadent Belgium Hot Chocolate, and indulge in our Devonshire Cream Tea, Freshly Baked Scones, Homemade Strawberry Jam & Clotted Cream.

    Never had a bad meal here although a little pricey for lunch & considering portion sizes.
    Love sitting in their 'beer garden' on a sunny day just watching the world go by where the kids can play within eyes view.

    Had a great dinner Saturday night with friends. The food was delicious, and you could tell it was all homemade. The staff were friendly, very cosy atmosphere. Felt very relaxed with candlit tables and open fire. Will definitely be going back.

    I went for breakfast with a group of friends and their children last Sunday and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and I don't think I have ever been to such a child friendly cafe before. Great kids menu, the back garden is very quaint and the kids left us adults alone as they were happy enough playing in the sandpit and kicking a ball around. My husband had the big breakfast and it looked very impressive, I went for the eggs benedict and it was delicious. All the meals were well presented, we all really enjoyed sitting under the huge tree drinking the great coffee.

    Very surprised to see the previous two reviews - we have been three times over the past couple of months, and loved it. The mushroom risotto is excellent and my husband always has the beef burger, thinks it one of the best burgers he's eaten and the homemade apple crumble is superb. Staff are friendly and kids are well catered for with their own menu and pencils/paper to entertain them. Highly recommended.

    We had lunch at this cafe a couple of weeks ago. Staff were friendly but we had to get our own menus and then find a staff member to take our orders after waiting for about 20 minutes. Our table was not cleared from clearly empty coffee cups once our main meals arrived. We ordered two beef hamburgers with chips and salad. The burger was extremely dry, chips were virtually full of oil, and salad was boring with no dressing. One staff member who started off really friendly asked how the meals were. I said they were ok but to be honest I was sorry to say that the burgers were very dry and needed a sauce. They were NOT happy to hear a criticism at all, and couldn't wait until I left the restaurant. I will not be returning.

    This cafe changed management in the last 6 or 12 mths and has really gone down hill. Service was ok.....but waiters didn't seem to know what they were doing. My pancakes were like rubber and flavourless. A table nearby were served burnt (blacken!) scones and were told "oh sorry about that, but we don't have time to make any more".....!! Would not recommend this place!

    The cottage menu is quaint but a little too expensive for lunch. The food is top quality however, so if you don't mind parting with your hard earned, you'll enjoy the sumptuous food

    I wish I had a place like this near me. It's perfect. Excellent food, fresh and different-not boring cafe food. Excellent service and environment and I love the produce store.
