One of my earlier companies that I had worked for was only down the road from the restaurant/bar, but had never discovered until only the last recent years in living in Sydney and passing by through work. We came by one evening after work and it stuck on us, as a favourite get together place for drinks/bite to eat. The food here has to be one of the most decent places to have a quick bite at a reasonable cost. You order/pay at the bar, and the food brought out to you. Drink prices are also ok. The atmosphere is casual; mix crowd of corporate & your everyday catch groups. If youre new to Sydney and looking for a great bar/place to catch up with some friends this is definitely a great location to start off with. Bear in mind our very own Princess Mary found her Prince Edward here, and its your everyday average bar!

Head to the beer garden for a little festive oasis in at the back of the slip inn. The famous el loco serves food here including hot dogs, tacos and mains of crackling pork and chicken. Had a great lunch sipping on beer and eating good Mexican inspired food. Lots mod large benches for groups and there's seating inside and out. You can book in advance too. Great vibe, great food. Expect to pay about $35 per person including drinks.

Yesterday myself and a posse of work mates dined at "El Loco" to celebrate two of our beloved co-workers birthdays. We were looking for a place where we could kick back in a casual environment, enjoy a meal and drink in the sun and not pay an arm and a leg. As you walk in to the newly renovated Slip Inn the Mexican atmosphere is evident everywhere - from the colourful walls and table settings to the menu. The prices are pretty reasonable for a quick lunch hour meal and include a range of tacos in a number of exotic flavours (they are quite small so if you arrive with a rumbling tummy take the advice of attendant and order 2-3 tacos. "The Cuban sandwich" which although very tasty filled with spit roast pork, resembled more of a hamburger than a sandwich. There are french fries and a couple of main meals including lamb, chicken and fish. Portions aside the food was all very fresh and their were no complaints from our group. The service is very friendly and completely accommodating for a large or small group, the atmosphere is very bar-cas and overall it is still a really nice venue to pop in for a laidback meal with friends.

Slip Inn is now my favourite lunch spot. I was treated to a work birthday party here where we were met with reserved seating for a party of 12 in the Courtyard, the staff were very attentive, friendly and and even treated me to a glass of champagne to say Happy Birthday. The menu is extensive and offers a variety of choice for any taste palette and the food is delish, whether you choose the hearty Chicken Parmi, the Grilled Salmon or the delicate King Prawn and Snowpea Salad. Many complements to the amazing Chefs and the wait staff :D
Convenient location within close proximity to King Street Wharf, Darling Harbour and Pyrmont Bay and right next door to Chinese Laundry - for all the ravers ;)
I would definitely recommend booking a table (as it is really popular and fills up pretty quick by 1pm) in the Courtyard as it is so peaceful and beautiful on a sunny day and offers the added bonus of an outdoor bar where you can order your food and drinks. Overall a great place to dine out for lunch or dinner and even kick on and party the night away :)
