The restaurant's decor is in keeping with its hip location and the dining here is more whistle-stop than lingering. Soba's strengths are, as its name suggests, the noodles, but its stir-fries and char-grills aren't bad either. The mee goreng is exceptional, thick noodles in a chilli sauce with bean curd, onions and a choice of meat or seafood. Peking drunken noodles is another top effort. Salt and pepper squid, so often a soggy or tough disappointment, is adequate as is the basil stir-fry with a choice of meat, onion, celery and broccoli. A stand-out dish is the house specialty: crispy Peking beef served with crispy potatoes. Soba also does traditional Thai curries, laksa, nasi goreng and Asian soups. The service is good and the atmosphere fun. Great for a quick fix.
