    A knockout this one is!

Enjoyed my stay very much and was spoilt rotten by the staff. They really go that extra mile to make you feel more comfrtable and happy with your meal. I was impressed by the coffee's too and broad range of modern Italian cuisines projected on a menu which is against the wall (very cool) infact the whole place is extremely cool. Located in a trendy laneway, with friendly, well dressed staff and a charming ambience to it.
Couln't be happier with the quality of the service and food. Try the prawn claypot. Delish!

By far the best gnocchi in town.

The service was exceptional, not only were they attentive, but they also let us sample some of the wine before choosing a bottle, talk about generosity!

    Will definitely be back.

    Best gnocchi in Melbourne!

This little restaurant is a gem, hidden amongst Melbourne's lane way's and best retail precincts. The staff are friendly and the deserts are to die for!

We arrived four of us with very little time one Saturday evening as we had to eat and run to the theatre. We explained this to the staff and they turned over four fabulous meals very quickly. I had the oven baked home made gnocchi with a napoli sauce and some kind of amazing cheese. When my husband turned to me to try mine, unfortunately it had already gone, he was not happy. He had the duck risotto which he loved, his was accompanied by some lovely red that had be recommended by the awesome staff and I had a Stella Bella sav blanc, always good. The bill was paid and we were fed, watered and out of there in 45minutes and in the theatre wishing we were still there. After the theatre we headed back where we shared a chocolate and beetroot cake with some thick cream and a citrus tart. We then finished off with fabulous coffee and a lemoncello. We felt like that night we were in Italy. Brilliant.

We arrived in Melbourne early on Good Friday and the CBD was a ghost town. thankfully this little gem was open to provide a great breakfast and a few glasses of Champagne to celebrate the start of our holiday.

While waiting for my breakfast one of the little sparrows that was sitting above our table managed to get his droppings mere millimetres from my coffee - which was undoubtedly his target thus proving these street performers are very talented - beware!

The waiter was very friendly - even though it was a public holiday - and the Eggs Benedict were delicious.

CERTAIN restaurants have their time. Last month it was Cumulus Inc and MoVida Next Door. This month it's Gigibaba and Hellenic Republic. Next month it will be MoMo and Cutler and Co - the name Andrew McConnell has finally been allowed to settle on for Carlton's Three One Two once it moves to its new home in Gertrude Street.

Almost a decade ago that place in my heart and my life was occupied by Bistrot d'Orsay and Il Solito Posto. That was before d'Orsay expanded and was still a thin slip of a thing famous for its ceiling fresco and risotto. Further up Collins Street, slipping down those few steps off George Parade for a coffee or a bowl of pasta sitting perched on a stool at Il Solito was another highlight. The news that Grant Phelan, originally from those glory days of Il Solito, had opened a new place called Solarino with wife Jade and brother Dale (ex-Caffe Panette and Sails) sparked a wash of warm memories of romancing the woman I still love.
