As of January 2011 the store is offering special of $179 for glasses with a free upgrade to multifocal. The fine print (which doesn't actually exist - you need to tease the information out of the staff while they are trying to upsell you) is that this is for the lowest (cheapest) index lens material only, and 'standard' multifocal technology. This would be suitable for people with only a very slight vision defect, and in any case these customers would not need multifocal lenses. The staff are rude and not well informed. I tried to query what the different grades of multifocal meant, and got a completely garbled and useless description. I checked some other stores in the area and they all had information sheets with clear diagrams that exactly explain what the grades are - SpecSavers either doesn't bother getting these from their suppliers, or don't want their customers to know about the differences in the grades. I complained about my treatment to management and received the same curt responses - it's easy to see where the staff get their attitude from. This store cannot be recommended under any circumstances, especially as there are three other stores in the same complex, all of which were prepared to carefully explain my options to me and quote exact prices for lenses without requiring that I chose my frames fist. I ended up with a different store that agreed to install new lenses in some existing frames - a much better deal than the SpecSavers $179 offer.
