High expectations surround Kew's newest dining offering - constantly booked out thanks to the popularity of co-owner George's Masterchef phenomenon - but I found it sadly lacking.
Arriving at the venue to find a cafeteria style set up complete with cutlery stacked in old tins of tomato paste and generic brand plastic salt containers made me cringe. It may be considered kitch by the ubertrendy crowd but to me it's tacky.
However, the food was of a high standard, but the menu difficult to navigate. The salad options were a bowl of seeds & nuts or dressed iceberg lettuce (?).
The wine list was very pricey and packed with European wines - disappointing when Australia offers so many amazing wines.
The service was good when we could find our allocated server - there were lots of them but only ours could take our order.
Despite this, it continues to be packed out but I won't be rushing back.
