When the air conditioning unit we bought via Staycool Heating broke down within the warranty period, it was almost impossible to get someone to fix it. When finally we managed to get someone in (from their office), they did a very dodgy job, resulting in the newly installed part blowing off on a windy day. We called Staycool, who sent a maintenance man, who would only come round if we gave them our credit card details. He promised that no money would be taken out of our account. However, Staycool called to say they were going to take the money anyway. When we tried to explain that the problem was the result of THEIR dodgy work, they laid the blame with the manufacturer of the unit and would therefore go ahead with the direct debit of our account. We didn't agree with this action and were promised, by a non too friendly lady on the phone, that the money would not be taken out just yet, but that a manager would call back first to see if we could solve the problem. And guess what? The manager never called, but the money was taken out the next day anyway. Now we have to take action with Consumer Affairs to get our money back ($150), all because Staycool's customer service is non-existent. Better stay well away from this ompany and spend you money elsewhere!
