This medical practise is currently my family practise, it selling point is its thorough doctors! The practise itself isnt very flash looking but its clean... It bulk bills unless you dont have a medicare card, whereupon you have to pay for your visit and claim the rebate from your provider, should you have one. A consultation for a non medicare card holder ranges from about $40 - $70, the cost going higher depending on how long you see the doctor for. While I have mentioned that this is my current family practise, I am shopping for an alternative for the following reasons. Firstly, I have ongoing medical issues and the practise doesnt really seem to nurture relationships with client (I get the feeling they see themselves more like a drop in centre than a long term health provider), my perceptions come mostly from my experiences with some of the reception staff who have been short and in some instances patronizing in my dealings with them. For example, in one case, I realised I had run out of a prescription, so I attended another practise after trying to make an appointment to visit the Strathfield practice. Mind you, I could have gone and waited for a little gap (which you can do if you dont have an appointment but waiting times can be up to 2 hours before you see someone and priority is given to people with appointments which is fair enough). In any case, the doctor I had visited over my lunch in Rockdale(somewhat understandably) mentioned he wasnt aware about my history and would need to clarify with my doctor before he could give me the prescription. I provided him with the practice number, he called and then told me the receptionist at Strathfield practice had said I could come and wait (which I was aware off but couldnt as I need to feed myself somehow and so had to WORK). Anyway, having attended this practise for a number of years now, one would have thought they would facilitate my situation. (The prescription is hardly a hard drug!) Anyway, call me a baby but at this point I was quite distressed and almost in tears. I had to take the rest of the day off work to attend Strathfield practice so I could get my prescription. Since this experience, I have been turned off the practise and see it as a drop in centre rather than a ongoing health management medical centre (my opinion of what a medical practice ought to be!).

Friendly staff, willing to make an appointment or make a suggestion of a good time to come in if there's no appointments available. Wide range of services, bulk billing, near the pharmacy so you don't have to travel far when you're feeling crook. Gave immunisations to our kids, that's never fun but they did it really well. Hope you don't need them (coz it will mean you're sick) but if you do then a good choice.
