Located near the water at King Street Wharf in Sydney, Strike Bowling Bar prides itself on being a complete entertainment venue with revellers having the chance to bowl some balls, have a drink or two and essentially enjoy themselves. Meanwhile, the décor is contemporary and sophisticated despite this being a bowling alley – sit back in the sleek and stylish bar and have a pre-game drink.

Booze, bowling and karaoke should win Strike a 10/10 but it doesn't quite live up to its promise.
Strike Bowling Bar might be by the water at King Street Wharf but its pleasures are far removed from its harbour setting and views of the sun sinking behind the flashing neon of Star City casino. Feeling like Wilma and Fred from The Flintstones, my bowling babe Kristie and I traipse down a long corridor, past an unmanned bar and empty padded booths, eventually finding a counter staffed by an emo kid badly in need of a haircut. Half the lanes are empty but, without a booking, he can only offer us one game (at $16 each after 4pm from Sunday to Thursday). It sounds pricey for a bogan game but at least our velcro bowling shoes don't smell as if a ferret has curled up and died in each toe. Massive screens featuring lip-syncing, gyrating music video chicks compete with lairy fluoro lighting and loud music to distract the staff - which might explain the patchy service.
