We ate here today for the first time, It was a quiet lunch and the place was basically empty. The staff were standoffish, and a little snobby. We ordered off the tapas menu, and some appetizers. When the dishes arrived they were very small, even though I had asked the person who took our order if they were generous portions because the price tag was very high and they had said oh definitely very nice portions.
My fiance ordered what she assumed to be a salad, from the salad section of the menu. When it turned up she was disappointed because it was just a few slices of cheese and tomato with a very tiny amount of basil and then soaked in olive oil, whereas she had thought it would be a salad with greens and then basil and tomato and bocconcini in the salad. She asked if she would swap it because it was really not what she was expecting and also if she had known that was what it was then she would never have considered it worth the price. The person said no, they would not swap it, they did not offer to add some greens or do anything to salvage the experience, they basically said well not my problem that you don't understand an Italian menu.
When we said that we would not return if the service here was going to be so poor, they said that they did not care, that they had plenty of customers. When I also complained about the very small portion size relative to the very large price tag they said too bad, I will not refund you, you get what you ordered. No wonder they make you pay before you get your meals.
The person seemed to have very little understanding of the basic idea of service, which is that happy customers will come back, bring their friends, tell other people, and that you have to look further than the cost of one refund or some extra salad greens to make someone's experience from a negative one into a positive one. All they would have had to do was bring out a small bowl of greens as a gesture and we would have been happy.
We ate the food, such as it was, and overall it was bland and flavourless, the meatballs in ragu that I had ordered were tiny with almost no flavour,in a small amount of very simple tomato sauce with no herbs or distinguishing taste, a very poor example of Italian cuisine. We did not order anything else because they had made our experience such a poor one that we had no desire to spend any more money in their restaurant, and we will definitely discourage our friends and family from going there either.
Just goes to show that one bad customer service experience can cost a business not just one customer, but in our case as we have a very large family who eat out a lot, more than a dozen customers.
If you are looking for somewhere nice to eat in bankstown, try somewhere else.

Amidst a culinary theme park, authentic flavours prevail.

STUZZICHINO is a mouthful to say and means a mouthful or, more specifically, a morsel. It is usually uttered in the plural, stuzzichini, because Italians are not the kind of people to offer one dish when they can cover the table with as many as possible. So it's fitting that Stuzzichino restaurant in the Bankstown Sports Club should branch out into shared plates and make antipasti a communal grazing experience. The other feature of Stuzzichino is that it is located inside a theme park. Welcome to Club Land, a fantasy construct where you can dine in a startlingly accurate, faux French railway station brasserie or take tea in a red-and-green Chinese restaurant shaped like a pagoda, complete with dragon motifs.
