I have never been to a more unprofessional, disgusting and poor excuse for a retail store in my life. Despite the fact they opened 10 minutes late, we were greeted by a staff who proceeded to inform us our weddings were too far away to be looking and that we could only try on two dresses. We had travelled an hour and a half (which they said was not that far... tell my 4WD this next time I am at the petrol station will you please...) and we were there to see a specific designers dresses. I had been waiting nearly two months to try on this particular dress and once I had it on (to be fair the first staff offered to help me into it but wandered off after I declined) anyway, once I had it on this other sales assistant came out of nowhere and started picking faults with myself and the dress. I know my faults and the only people I want pointing them out are my family or bridesmaids and to be honest I don't care what a sales assistant thinks about my hips or my face.

All the staff were rude, the store was horrible, the gowns were not what you would expect for the prices. We left straight after that. We were going to give up except for another store a few meters down the road. Do not go there, I have no idea how they make their money or what kind of store seems to alienate its customers and not sell dresses. You should never be rude to a customer, disgusting.

Initially, I was excited to arrive at Sugar & Spice but after the horrible service we received I left feeling frustrated and upset. Went in with close friends and members of my bridal party and were treated rude. Every dress we tried on was dismissed by one particular staff member who appeared out of nowhere. Rather than help us, staff put us down and suggested we wait until our wedding date was closer in case we 'put on weight'. Thankfully, this wasn't the first bridal store we had been to otherwise this could have been disastrous. To the staff at Sugar & Spice - you are not nice. If you want genuine service, walk on a few metres to a lovely bridal store with fantastic and friendly service.

Bad service here. Went in to look at a specific designer. First thing we were told was we were only allowed to try 2 dresses. Then when trying dresses on they picked on flaws basically uninterested in helping us find the dress that was the one. Maybe its because our wedding is so far off but it shouldn't matter to them that's not their worry. Go up the road for much better service.

Absolutely fantastic store. My wedding had to be brought forward because of an illness in the family. I went into a whole bunch of stores and they made me feel upset about not having time to order my dream wedding gown. I went into Sugar & Spice on my way home as the last stop and the ladies there were so great! They told me it wasn't a problem and that I could have anything in the store. I walked out of there an hour and a half later with the dress of my dreams and feeling on top of the world. Can't thank them enough!!! Fully recommend making them your first stop and saving the heartache.

Recently ordered bridesmaids dresses from this establishment and was assured that stock was supplied from AUSTRALIA. Girls all fitted dresses used in-store for sizing, but the colour wanted was not in-store. 3 months later when dresses arrived not one fitted and it was suggested that all bridesmaids had gained TOO MUCH weight. Amazingly they didn't fit the NEW sizing dresses in-store and ALSO THERE WAS A NEW SUPPLIER, (FROM *CHINA*!!! it was later admitted). All dresses have had to be altered (at our expense). When one bridesmaid was being re-fitted she tried on a dress in-store that fitted, and it was admitted that there was a sizing problem form the supplier, 'but only with that dress!'
If one dress needed to be altered I could have understood, but all three?
The thing that hurt the most was the condescending manner in which the management of this establishment dealt with the problem. Being told to "BREATHE", 'TAKE A DEEP BREATH", "TRY WINE" also modelling a meditation pose doesn't help when you are three weeks out from the important date.

Will find out soon if the grooms-mens suits will fit........

I can deal with problems if they are dealt with in an appropriate manner. The misleading information and patronising manner in which all this has been dealt with has left a sour taste in my mouth.
My suggestion to anyone who goes here is only buy stock off the floor if it fits you then and there!!!

The service in the bridal department of Sugar and Spice is awful!. Sugar and Spice was the first bridal shop I stopped at when I got engaged. I walked away from the whole experience feeling very upset and offended. I went in on my day off, with all intentions of finding my dream gown, only to be told that I needed to 'lose some weight to keep myself looking good for my new fiancee'- I was really upset and left the store (without a gown, and having wasted time on my day off). I think that a store that sells you a dress that costs almost as much as a small second-hand car ($5,000) plus accessories, plus bridesmaids dresses (most cases 2+), and a few suits (3+), friendly service wouldn't be asking to much. When it was my sister's turn to get married I told her NOT to visit this store. But as she lives close to Chermside, she dropped in to take a look, and she said that she received the same service that I did. I was concerned about how they would treat her (as I was a size 12, and she is a size 18), and my comments were rude enough. She said that she was also told to lose weight, and left feeling bad about herself. If this is one of their selling techniques to get people to buy their dresses-it doesn't work-It is just rude!!!!!. DON"T GO TO THIS STORE IF YOU ARE OVER SIZE 10!!!- You will be treated poorly- That's a GUARANTEE!!!,

My fiancee & I just recently bought our dress & suit from Sugar & Spice, and we found the staff & the service beautiful!! You'll get better service here, than what you would at 'High & Boutiques'. I am a size 16, and they were wonderful! They couldn't do enough for us. What were you doing looking in the $5000 section anyway? Who spends that much on a wedding dress?

I went to this store to look for my wedding dress with a friend. The shop assistants refused to help me and when I eventually got someone's unwilling attention I asked her if she could help me find a wedding dress with lace on it. The lady said to me that the wedding dresses with lace on them only came in smaller sizes so I would not be able to get one. I am an australian 12 dress size so do not think of myself as overweight and was shocked at her comment and left the store. I was humiliated and will NEVER return to this store again.

Absolutely terrible service. My husband was in a bridal party and his suit was at least two sizes too big. When he took it back to tell them they said, "No that's how it's meant to be, you're wrong".. I will never ever be returning here!!!

Less than impressed. I took my fiancee here to look at some shirts. He told the person behind the counter that he wanted something flowing in a natural fibre for our beach wedding. They told him that the "pirate look" was very 10 years ago, and suggested that we look at a costume hire store instead. Aarrrgh matey! We walked out of the store laughing at their lack of tact and poor customer service skills.

      Hi there treefrog81,
My name is Ben and I head our Media & Marketing division for Sugar & Spice. I'm sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with our menswear division, something that we take great pride in. I've spoken to our team to get some insight into the information, and our team were adamant you had directly requested the "pirate look?" What our team perhaps meant to imply was that the frilly "arrrrgh matey" look as you describe is no longer a popular fashion trend (we discontinued that line in 2001 due to poor sales) and true to form, alot of the stylings our frilly shirts had ended up in popular customer stores around Brisbane city.

Our team are always here to provide the most information possible, and we always try do it with good old fashioned Aussie quality, friendly and happy staff, but we apologise that in this case you took it in a different light. Here's hoping you found what you were looking for and that if you have any further questions we're here to help!

Hi, sorry for the delay but I just wanted to assure you that my husband did definitely no ask for a frilly pirate shirt. The staff was very condescending toward us and made wrong assumptions, and didn't even take the time to properly ask what we were looking for. I appreciate you having taken the time to investigate my feedback but please remember that the customer is always right. And judging from the other reviews on here I don't think I am the only one that has received bad service, perhaps you should look at retraining your staff in providing customer service to retain shoppers not drive them out the door.

Very helpful assistants here. It was the first place I went to when looking for my dress and I didn't need to look any further. Excellent range of gowns and fantastic service - very satisfied customer!

I have to say I was pretty disappointed in the service. I'm an Australian size 6 and work hard to keep a fit figure. When I first asked the staf if I could try on some wedding dresses they said they don't have anything in my size but if I really wanted to I could. 3 out of the 5 dresses i picked they said I couldn't try because they were too "Nanna" for me (they were fitted lace gowns) and both of the dresses I was allowed to try they said they looked terrible because I was such a string bean.
