We have classes and workshops to suit all levels. Whatever your standard of skill or your sculptural interest, we can assist you. The main focus of the class sessions is on how to build a three dimensional form over a support frame or armature in mediums such as modeling clay, wax or plaster. Once the original is finished you have the option of having your work molded and cast in bronze, resins, glass, plaster or other mediums. All the teachers at the Sydney Sculpture School are not only excellent teachers, but gifted sculptors themselves. Some sculptors and schools focus on one type of methodology, system or technique. Whilst specialization may be positive in some respects, we believe that it is important to have an open mind and to look at all forms of sculpture and associated processes. As such, we use different materials, encourage students to create their own visions and not just copy existing works, use live models and bring in experts in their respective fields. Each person has their own style whether they know it or not. Each person also has their own strengths and weaknesses. Our aim is not to create clones of our teachers, but to help you develop your own style and to help you build on your own strengths and weaknesses. Classes are kept small to ensure personal attention is given to you. We have no more than 8 students in a class. As the numbers in each class are small, we have students of differing standards in the room together, all receiving the assistance that they require from the teacher. Special beginner or advanced workshops are held throughout the year.
