Reviews of Thanon Khaosan (City)

My Mum and I had been to this restaurant before and were very impressed so my brother and I took her there for a surprise on Mother's Day.
We spent over 2hrs in the restaurant. The food is outstanding, full of flavour, served hot and comes out VERY quickly. The waitresses were very friendly and fast to serve us. We are all looking forward to going back.

This place was buzzing when we got there. Service tonight was quick and friendly.

We had fried noodles with beef, papaya salad with steamed white rice. Although they gave me the incorrect papaya salad, it was still very delicious I just ate it up - no complaint!

Desserts are as good as ever although many of the popular items were already sold out when we arrived at 8pm.

The food here is fabulous, taste just like in Thailand. Price is a bit steep.

Love this restaurant! Their Thai salads are just like in Thailand; fresh, fishy, sweet, tangy, salty and spicy. This is the only Thai restaurant I know that serves raw crab and papaya salad with enough heat. However, I do find their curries a bit too sweet with too much coconut cream in it for my liking. Never mind the slightly smaller serving portions because you'll want to save plenty of room for desserts! Their Thai desserts are the best!!! Their prices are reasonable and quality is GOOD.
    Definitely recommend.

I found the atmosphere very relaxed with recycled furniture and decorations. The food was served very quickly and if you like spice, this is the place for you. Unfortunately parking is MAJOR hassle on a weekend and after circling the area for half an hour on the weekend and battling with pedestrians, traffic lights and other cars, I gave up and left the area to eat somewhere else

I used to come here a lot more when it first opened. Food is good but service is terrible.

I walked in today at about 2pm, smiled and asked for a 'rad na' to takeaway. I might not speak Thai but body language - like rolling your eyes when I ask if I can order takeaway and again when I ask to pay using my change - is understood universally.

With so much good food in Sydney, I'd be happy to give Thanon Khao San a miss. Bad service should not be put up with.
  • The food is great, the staffs are friendly, but the restaurant is quite too dark, not really can see what u are eating. :)

A new Thai restaurant going for the more traditional, authentic feel. The meals were slightly smaller then what you can find nearby but they lacked in quantity the made up for in flavour. The specials weren't written in English but that wasn't really an issue as the staff are happy to answer any questions.

A group of work friends and I visited this place for lunch and highly recommend it. The service was quick, the food was excellent and the price very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.
