Last time I came here, we ordered a variety of pizzas, and I must say the Peking duck pizza is fantastic. It is fairly priced, and you can sit outside on a nice summers day and enjoy a nice beer from their great (and large) selection of local beers.

It has a nice feel to the place, and is one of the nicer pubs in Sydney to kick back and have a beer with a mate.

Have always enjoyed the hugs range of beers and excellent pizza (especially the kangaroo). Went there recently for a friend's party and they hired out the roof. Brilliant views of the city with your own private bar, so you don't have to use the stairs to get a drink. They also bring the pizza up to you!!

Best aussie style pizza in town. Kangaroo and crocodile pizza's are to die for. Also a great lamb one for the big meat eaters. Sitting outside is lovely, watching the world pass by.

A great, traditional-style pub. Huge range of beers and the pizzas they serve are great (tandoori, crocodile etc).

I've stayed overnight there once, and while it's no 5-star hotel, it's neat and tidy and in a good spot down in The Rocks.

But, at the end of the day, a pub is a bout beer, and The Australian does beer very well.

I hate telling people how could this place is as it means you'll come here and it will just more busier. But seriously this place "Rocks" best pizza in Sydney. A lot better than other "Italian" places in the rocks. The staff are totally run off their feet, but doesn't mean that they are rude or aren't doing their best. If your starting a pub crawl in Sydney this is a great place to start. There is nothing bad about this place, great food, reasonable drinks and a pleasure to go to.

A main stay for a good selection of Australian beers. The draught beers wash down the great pizzas they do here too. It's always pretty busy so be prepared to hang around for a table or get there early...

    Ultimate Sydney

If these walls could talk. The oldest continually licensed pub in the City of Sydney, The Australian has certainly seen some things in its 186 years, including the gangland-style execution of a notorious underworld figure in 1956. Today it’s best known for its quaint wine bar, annual October beer festival and, of course, the exotic pizza menu – think crocodile, emu and kangaroo. But despite now being a thoroughly modern boozer, The Australian has lost none of its rough ‘n’ ready charm.
