We had a great night 6 of us saturday, we were at a freinds birthday upstairs in the coctail bar and we dceided to eat. Eat we did and the food was great share plates looked good but i went for the steak. The eye fillet melted in my mouth. Deserts were also good before we got into the coctails. All in all the bill was very reasonable. From there we listened to some cool tunes and got a bit tiddly!

The bar itself is fairly nice inside and the back garden area is very cool on a nice day. My only problem is the service. The bar staff really have some attitude, not friendly at all. One practically bit my head off after they charged me the wrong amount and I questioned them. Instead of apologising, they were really rude. I am from NYC. I can take aggressive, indifferent, too cool, etc. but rude for no reason just doesn't fly. I've been there two times, and both times received attitude (and no, I was perfectly polite to them!). Not going back.

Many places buckle under the pressure, stuffed to the gills with patrons, buffeted by one pitifully spluttering air-conditioner. Others provide blessed respite in the cooling shadow of excellent drinks and breezy, high ceilings. Walking up and down Victoria Street with the afternoon mercury pushing 40, The Aviary is one such saviour. Set out a little like an old Queenslander, with open windows and fans keeping the air moving (rather than the flu-inducing industrial-strength cooling that assaults you at many establishments come summer), The Aviary is just dark enough to sink into a leather lounge and not want to get out, and just light enough to keep your wits about you long into the night. The recently converted guts of the building are airy and stylish without feeling fo...
