    Upstairs at the Brighton Baths is very lovely on a bright sunny day. The views are spectacular (although not sydney ) the service is impressive. the menu is modern and the wine list is very good without beeing too extensive. keep this one in mind for a special occasion

    Upstairs here is lovely - $25 lunch menu with good choices + free glass wine - although you do get ripped off on additional drinks. Been to a few functions downstairs and they've always been great. Fantastic views, nice relaxed atmosphere.

    Out with the gimmicks, in with the excellent food.

    A LOT of water has passed over the upstairs pixelated urinal at Middle Brighton Baths since John "Sammy" Newman and his Brighton buddies invested in the place in 2002, installing what was, and quite probably remains, Melbourne's only restaurant plasma screen mounted on a men's dunny. Different ownership structures (Newman bailed very early); different kitchen and management regimes . . . Like most restaurants set up as investment vehicles, rather than businesses for career restaurateurs to run personally, consistency at MBB has been less reliable than the afternoon southerly that belts across the Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina in summer, raising salty spray and spume that eventually settles on the restaurant's upstairs windows. Yet the chef rollcall at the place has been impressive. Let's see now: they started with Maurice Esposito (now at Il Bacaro); did their famous swap with Paul Raynor, who came over from the Stokehouse (he's now at Joseph's at Sofitel Mansion, Werrib...
