Reviews of The Belrose Hotel

  • Have eaten here before and in the past was good , but tonight it was decisively average , the slow cooked lamb , wasn't slow cooked , needed a steak knife to cut through it , very disappointing
    And the salmon was overcooked

First impression of this place is nice, it has a comtemporary open concept, much like a tuck shop with a modern ambience.
The food is good but way overpriced as there's no table service. You'll need to queue up to place an order for everything.
Our dinner for 4 was well over $100!!! I've paid much less for high quality food at a proper restaurant.
This place is too noisy for any conversation if you're there on a busy night.
    I'd rather go elsewhere.

The Belrose Hotel has really lovely atmosphere and balances the pub vs family bistro venue exceptionally well. What I appreciate most is that they welcome families but ensure that kids are supervised closely by their parents. They make this clear on their menu, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the staff enforce this gracefully. The venue does get very family friendly at times (which keeps me away - but that's one person compared to a family of business). The meals are always served fast and generally the quality appears to match the price. There are often promotional vouchers around for those of us that remember them. They advertise live music but I have not been there when they've had people playing. There is a reasonable selection of beers but smaller selection of wine. TAB facilities and poker machines both of which are gratefully kept out of the way. Comfortable seating and variety of it. They often show pay-per-view events also. This is one of my favourite local venues are rarely disappoints.
  • They do an excellent Caesar Salad.
  • I think their getting better. Today the coffee was only 8 mins. The seasoned vegetables which have been like stones in the past were tender with flavor. It looks like they have replaced or repaired the tv screens in the smoking area, you can now see what's on them and the time, except the one on the west wall, which the sun reflects off, they also had light background music which is a change from dead silence.
  • Sometimes you wait 20 minutes for a coffee. Sometimes they will do it straight away.
  • Each time I go to their web-site and click on the bistro menu, it downloads the pdf to my desktop. I have to remove multiple files from my hard disk to keep it from cluttering. Poor web-site designing, In my opinion. Reflects on how the place must be managed as previous e-mails here have said. Why can't the menu appear in a web browser as many other sites do?
  • After waiting 40 minutes for the food to be ready (the buzzer thingy going off) it was cold both times I went there. I have been a chef for over 17 years and was amazed with the amount of staff in there kitchen they managed to serve FISH & CHIPS cold twice.
You could not pay me to go back there and eat. Place place is noisy and full of screaming uncontrolled kids. Staff are rude to you when you complain that the food you have paid $15 for is cold.

  • We waited an hour or more for breakfast on Sundays.

Newly refurbished hotel right int he heart of Belrose. Open plan - which can be noisy - especially if you are dining near the childrens play area on a Fri or sat night - real noisy. Great venue for families with small children - however the lack of outdoor space kind of restricts the idea of taking older kids. Food can be great one night and average the next - but all in all its pretty much the only place to eat in Belrose that caters for families.
