--> The Corner House in Bondi, Sydney, NSW, Restaurants - True Local
The Corner House is actually a three in one type of venue.

Each section given a separate name, The kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room. Each serves its own function, wine bar, restaurant bar.

So, whatever you're looking for, from a quick drink, a chat over a few glasses of wine or a dinner proper, you'll find it all here in distinctly quirky and mismatched environments.

--TrueLocal description--
This cool corner has serious street cred. Lounge in the Lounge Room for a long cocktail, maybe a fruity gimlet, before retiring to the Dining Room downstairs. ?Two Olive Trees and a Pig? pizza has everyone talking but ?Daniella? is inspired by a long lost love and is a light and refreshingly nontomato-based pizza pie, piled high with asparagus, pecorino and prosciutto. Shear it up to share with the antique scissors provided.

Reviews of The Corner House

  • management is a self centered, rude person. no courtesy and decency of speaking to people. dont bother
  • Having been a Bondi local now for 4 years, we finally decided to try this place which for some reason we always seemed to bypass because it looks small from the front. There is actually an entire back section and also upstairs cocktail bar area and the food and drinks is awesome.
Pretty much, just order the 'Special Pizza'... it changes every week but since we started going here, it has never let us down. Definitely one of the best pizzas in Sydney.
  • I can't rave about this place enough. There is a bar upstairs with the restaurant downstairs and in the back. It has everything - great service, medium lighting, delicious bread to start with every order (drizzled with oil, so good) and a great selection of food. We've had everything from the fish of the day (my favourite) to the beef cheek gnocchi with warm beetroot (so filling and melts in your mouth) to the tasty pizzas and you can't go past the tiramisu dessert. It's not pretentious or over the top. Book ahead to avoid disappointment and pack your wallet, it's pricey but worth it.
  • Great place, recommended to me my my Naturopath & Homeopath Kylie Seaton (hilarious I know, but she's toally cool), great place, simple food, good wine and nice atmosphere. Brava!
  • The BEST pizza i have ever had

Trendy little bar and restaurant tucked away in Bondi. I enjoyed the food but was too full to try the chocolate dessert which I'd heard about in other reviews online. Drinks were a little bit pricey but the spirits were of good quality
  • We ate at Corner House for the first time last Saturday night. We were welcomed by a lovely waitress named Pip who informed us of the specials and helped us pick a bottle of red. Pip recommended the Larenti Canonau which turned out to be awesome.

They bring you foccacia with really good quality virgin olive oil and sundried tomatoes, while you wait for your food. We also ordered some olives which had a good variety of different types on the plate.

For the mains we ordered from the specials board. The beef cheek open lasagne was not your traditional type of lasagne. Slow cooked beef cheek with loosely wrapped lasagne sheets around it, topped with bchamel sauce and vine ripened cherry tomatoes. Melt in your mouth beef and tasted amaaaazing!

The other main was the prawn and chorizo pizza. When it came out it didnt have prawns on it but had muscles instead, chorizo, provolone cheese etc. We didnt send it back as it ended up tasting really nice and we wanted to eat it anyway.

We already knew what we were going to order for dessert as when we first walked in, we noticed some sort of chocolate cake type thing on the counter. Turns out it was a flourless chocolate torte with cream, strawberries and blueberries. Pretty sure we nearly died when we ate this. The best torte Ive ever had- nom.

All in all, not the cheapest eat but awesome quality ingredients- well worth it!

I've been to The Corner House on a few occasions, most often to the upstairs bar for drinks while I've been waiting for a table at one of the nearby restaurants. The cocktail list is impressive, and the staff won't hesitate to make something new for you, should you be in the mood for something inventive. While you wait have to wait with eagle-eyes until a couple of seats pop up around one of the teeny, tiny tables, once you settle in with a spot, it's a good spot to people watch and enjoy your drinks. You can't really order food upstairs, other than pizza, which is inventive and delicious. It's the perfect spot to go for a drink on a first date, as the atmosphere is fun and lively, and while it's usually buzzing with a hip, young crowd, I don't think it's pretentious at all.

Only once have I sat downstairs in the restaurant part, as it was during the day and the upstairs bar hadn't opened yet. The atmosphere down there wasn't nearly as good as what's on offer upstairs.

Over the years i have watched the streetscape of Bondi road transform from a rundown, backpacker infested eating strip to what is fast becoming a hotspot for funky bars, restaurants and cafes, and one of the better of the new additions would have to be The Corner House.

If you love fresh, inventive pizzas good cocktails and a cheeky rich desert with a casual atmosphere and fun, hip and friendly staff this place is for you.

The decor is modern, but rustic with a twist just like the food and the prices are pretty standard for Sydneys east. I think its a great venue for a nerve wracking first date, a casual Sunday lunch or a group function; its informal with just the right amount of cool that you will walk away satisfied by the experience and its only a short stroll down to the beach to work off all those carbs!
