This family-owned restaurant pays homage to an ancient culture, yet the interior is a modern mix of curved white chairs, a wooden banquette, with touches of antiques and images from Iran. The menu begins with caviar, oysters, eggplant dips, seasoned yoghurts, kebabs and vegetarian dishes. For something spectacular, try the fesenjan: chicken cooked in pomegranate stew with ground walnuts and served with saffron rice, one of several gluten-free options. Mains average: $16.
